MARR'S HEALING HANDS

(picture) "Has to be somewhere, so why not Coventry?"

JOHNNY MARR is to unveil his new band THE HEALERS this weekend (May 27) when they play their first ever live show.

The six-piece will get their world premiere at the Colusseum in Coventry, a club with a capacity of around 250.

A spokesperson for Marr refused to name any of the members of the Healers except to confirm that ex-Kula Shaker bassist Alonso Bevan would be playing.

It had been rumoured previously that Ringo Starr's son Zak Starkey would join the band on drums, with Lee Bonney on percussion, Lee Spencer on keyboards and a rhythm guitarist named simply as Chink.

Marr's spokesperson told nme.com: "They've been rehearsing an awful lot of late and just wanted to take it out and play in front of a live audience to get that live vibe. They wanted to play a little show outside of London and that's what they did. I don't really have any idea why they chose Coventry."

The spokesperson could not confirm if a full scale tour or summer festival appearances would follow, though Marr's website, www.jmarr.com, is carrying a posting claiming Marr and The Healers will perform at the renowned Fuji Rock Festival in Japan on July 29.

Marr is still without a label for his self penned debut album, recorded with, in part at least, with Beck associate Mikey P last year.

The spokesperson said simply: "He's taking it slowly, considering offers. Until that is sorted there will obviously be no release date or title."

Question...this site is called "MORRISSEY!!!!! - SOLO!!!!!", right? So why do we keep hearing about Lil' Johnny "Mar" (as in: to detract from the perfection or wholeness of). I don't give a rat's backside about this guy...and I'm sure I am not alone in this regard.

To those people who have made comments thus far, Get a job! There is life beyond "Morrissey". Even though I think Morrissey is great, he's not the only one. And in fact, if it wasn't for Johnny Marr, and Morrissey said it himself, you would've never even HEARD of Morrissey. He would've been long dead by now. So, quit having such an itchy typing-finger and reserve your comments until you have something important to say! I usually don't make comments EVER! And that's because all some of you do is bitch and complain. Go fly a kite or something. Unlock your bedroom door, take a breath of fresh air and relax a little bit. You should be more thankful for what is posted on this web-site as opposed to what is not "supposed" to be on this web-site. Please, give it a rest, won't you? Have a good day!

When John Lennon was killed, Bruce Springsteen was playing at the Spectrum in Philadelphia that night (08DEC80)...and Bruce walked out and said, to the best of my memory, "John Lennon has been killed tonight -- please know if it weren't for John Lennon
1. you would not be here tonight
2. I would not be here tonight
3. And, THIS FACILITY would not be here tonight"
So, if it were not for the other Smiths, Johnny, Mike, and Andy, Moz would not be here tonight -- and neither would we.

If it weren't for Mr. & Mrs. Morrissey doin' some shaggin' about 41 years ago, there wouldn't be any Morrissey...but I don't want to here about them either...and neither do you! So let me make this perfectly clear...Little Johnny Marr may take credit for helping to bring Morrissey to the public eye, but other than that ...WE DON'T CARE ABOUT HIM!!!

I, of course, love Morrissey. But I also love the Smiths. So I give Johnny Marr a lot of respect.

Marr did his part, but lets not let him leech off of Moz now that they broke up!

I like Morrissey, I respect Morrissey, I go to Morrissey show's. But lets face it - his solo stuff can't compare to that of The Smiths. Johnny and Morrissey had a magicical bond as musicians. Moz has not been able to capture that same magic with anyone since he's gone solo. I've seen Moz twice since he started covering the Smiths (4 times in total). Both times the crowd cheered louder and harder for the Smiths covers than for the solo stuff.

Both these guy's are exceptional musicians in different ways, neither has been as good apart as they were together- One note to Morrissey's credit He's even better now that he's a "SELL OUT" and has brought back the Smiths covers. Look to the future - But never forget the past.
