From Stephen Watson:

As Morrissey moves on to Dublin - just thought I'd brief you on his two superb concerts in Northern Ireland. Wednesday in 'Derry has to be one of the most truly amazing gigs that Morrissey has ever performed. In front of about only 300 !! (that's about all the venue held) Moz took stage in the Rialto, which is an old cinema, and said "welcome to my private party - private? - well you all knew about it".

He played pretty much the same set as the rest of the tour - but the night was almost wrecked when some punter grabbed Morrissey and dragged him off the stage. "November Spawned A Monster" had to be restarted and Morrissey, shaken, quipped "He looked so harmless but you never can tell these days"

Thursday night in Belfast in the Ulster Hall saw a much bigger turnout - but the venue was far from full. Morrissey opened with " I'm glad the people at the back didn't turn up - I didn't want to see them either!"

Finally for anyone with Digital TV BBC Northern Ireland filmed in Derry and will broadcast the feature in an entertainment programme tonight called "the eleventh hour" on a station called BBC Choice!

Stephen, you ceratinly seemed to be enjoying yourself last night. And well you should for the N.Irish concerts were truely fantastic. I don't think I have seen Morrissey on such excellent form.
Keep on dancing Stephen!

I have BBC Choice but "the eleventh hour" is not listed, it may seem a silly question but what time is it on?
Please e.mail me if you have details.

Thought Ulster Hall gig was excellent, well worth £20. First time seeing Morrissey live and hope he comes back to Belfast sooner rather than later.

I went to both shows (anyone who was at the rialto will know why I use that word rather than gig) in N. Ireland, and I have to say that I thought the Belfast one was far better. Most of the crowd in Derry sat for the whole show, the barriers were positioned too far from the stage for anyone to touch Morrissey's hand when he reached out, and I think this affected Moz's performance. (He actually left out a song from the set list -the teachers are afraid of the pupils, and at one point seemed to ask Alain if he was hungry) Still they were both great nights, and I was talked to for that program, it's just a shame I don't have BBC choice!

If Morrissey came to MONTREAL, he wouldn't have the empty venue problem. I wish he'd get the hell over here.

It's really great to know that I'm not the only Morrissey aficionado in Belfast!

I'm writing this to say, in a gentle way......
If anyone managed to tape this could they please get in touch. I was at both gigs and myself and my brother were talked to for this show. Two great nights were had, (It's good to hear Morrissey being so talkative, but surely he doesn't get abuse from the audience everywhere he goes) but the people who sat throughout the Derry gig should be ashamed of themselves. As for the Morrissey condoms, you could've knocked me down with a feather....who'd have thunk it!

I was at the Derry gig and was fortunate to get his T-shirt. The crowd was disapointing but lets just say the right people were there. It was great to see so many people from the states at the gigs. Belfast and Galway were pretty religious it has to be said. God(if your really there)Bless Steven Patrick Morrissey!
