From Ken:

While browsing through the September '99 issue of Microsoft Internet Developer magazine - on page 39 under the "Sample Application" Section they mention The Smiths in the scenario they give for a Developer to write some code.

"After all, the Smiths CD that was in the car had to be replaced."

Not too much, but pretty cool to see The Smiths mentioned in a technical article.

Um, I don't quite understand this either. Perhaps I'm not a "geek?" :) Why would a Smiths CD in your car have to be replaced? I had the same Smiths CD's in my CD player at home for months! (Unfortunately they suffered a bit by it, but I think they're OK now.) But still...I guess one would have to read the full article to understand it. Not that I would understand this computer techie junk anyway...:)

This was taken from a programming article in the Microsoft Internet Developer magazine. In the article, the author gives an example of his car getting stolen and his insurance company never sending him his claim check 'cause they're computer system still had his old address and not his updated address. So he said this "

After six months or so, we gave the insurance company a call. After all, the Smiths CD that was in the car had to be replaced."

The reason I told David about this was - a author of this article mentioned The Smiths. I thought that was pretty cool.

If you didn't know, the term "Geek" refers to technical people - like programmers and network engineers. Like Bill Gates & Steve Jobs.

Sorry if it was lame - but the last place I expected to see a reference to The Smiths was a Microsoft publication.

If you still don't get it, take a computer science class, play lots of role-playing games and start watching Dilbert!!!!!!!

Cheers!!!!

I wouldn't say geeks are solely technical people.

Geeks are more like what America calls its socially inept.
