Latest rumor for the first concert is Tempe, AZ (near Phoenix):

I know it's probably hard to believe if you check out their homepage (as if any of you believe anything on this site anyway). Here's a Yahoo! map. Capacity: approx. 1600.

somewhat dodgy location, hm? Saying that, on some tickets for the Hamburg show it seems to say "G1" instead of "Dock's" which is even more disturbing. The "Docks" is where he was playing in `91 and which is capacity-like what I was expecting. The "G1" though is more or less a small club. And not the type of club I*d like to go... erm.

Although playing small venues may not be as lucrative as Moz might like, it is all the better for us! After seeing M as a tiny speck from the lawn at the Pacific Ampitheater in '91 I will gladly welcome the coziness of a small club. The web site for "club rio" made me laugh, though, when I considered it in connection with Morrissey. "Hot Rio Nights" here I come!

wow, morrissey at club rio. can this be true? one living so close to club rio can only hope, and pray for this rumor to shell out. i've seen a few shows at club rio, and let me tell you folks who are not familiar with the club. you'd never be more than fifty yards from the stage. "please, please let me get what i want this time"...

Living only a few miles away in Tempe shall have it advantages, but Rio is kind of a dive. It is very easy to push yourself to the front of the stage but then the vocals out of the side PA gets lost in the mix, and the backstage area is almost open air just blocked off with some ropes. They had better play some pre-Vauxhall music (Pregnant for the Last time, Sister I'm a Poet) and tickets can't be under $20. The last time at the Az State Fair tickets were $7 to get in and an extra $8 to get on the floor, very close to the stage (Sunny was awesome!). If it costs any more than I know who has been spending all of his money paying court fees and living in California. I saw the Misfits and Henry Rollins at Rio. Both were intense shows. I hope my next time there for Morrissey will be as exciting and as memorable as the last. Stay Handsome...

i don't know what's going on, but i got an e-mail from club rio today, as in a few hours ago, and they said moz would be there on the 5th. they also gave me details. they said doors opened at 7 pm, all ages, bar with ID, tickets go on sale Sept. 3 at Dillards at 10 am, with tickets going for $26. i'm just the messenger!

This is good news. I couldn't care less where he plays in phoenix as long as he comes here. I was really close to the stage at the state fair and then in tuckson. tickets are a bit pricey this time around though but no bother.
maybe i'll get a backstage pass or something. i'm sick of them always going to people who just listen to the @#!!!ty radio here.
pavement are coming a few days later too.

The show will be GREAT, albeit short (per usual)

Drat! If only I lived in the states, I would surprise this really cute boy for his birthday and take him to the "rumored" event! Well, it would be great way to tell him "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

True True Keane 16 - if someone brought me to the concert for my birthday I would be totally jazzed! That would definitely be the best way to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hey if this thing is for real - how far is the club from Indio?

I live in tempe, az and I'd have to say it's the worse venue in town for Morrissey to play, but I have little to complain about, atleast he's coming here.
