It's amazing to have this network of people that understand Morrissey and what he as a wonderful person represents!!!In my own strange way i'll always be true to him!!!!

I bought tickets three times on different occasions and each time the show was cancelled. The Smiths rarely played Europe.

When i saw the Smiths Morrissey was barely breathing fat and old. Oh wait that was the malajusted tour. Sorry

The only way I get to see/hear a Smiths concert Is either through Video, or Bootleg cd/vinyl....but If I did, attended a Smiths concert that would make a giant difference In my life. But at that time, I didnt know who the Smiths were until I discovered Mr.Morrissey.

It's laughable at what people consider a sacrifice to get to a show. I flew to see him when I was barely making minimum wage and living on my own with no one helping me out and living off of spaghetti noodles and I couldn't even stay long in my chosen destination due to my employers not giving me any sort of paid vacation and nobody was available to help me cover anything while I was gone and I had already missed about a week's worth of pay due to necessary things over the course of a month or two I had to take off for previous to that.

I too had tickets to more than one show. Two were cancelled. I was fortunate enough to see them in one of their last concerts at NYC's Pier 17 (?? is that right...I don't even remember). I think it was summer of '85....wow, I'm old. I never really appreciated the fact that I lived so close to NYC when I was in high school and got to enjoy so many concerts.

i saw them. they were fantastic!! I saw them twice on their "Meat is Murder" tour and i saw them three times on their "Queen is Dead" tour. The first time at the Hollywood Palladium was magical. Their performance of "Jeane" was magical, but the show of all shows were the 2 shows at the Universal Amphitheatre for "Queen is..." They started off w/ "Please, Please, Please" and did about 24 songs including "Reel Around...", "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now", "Stretch Out..." songs they didn't do on any other dates...ahhhh the memories... that's when Moz still had it, I wish he was still as good...

Re: Early Welfare Years' comment

Yeah, I bet you went through all that, and Moz only played for a half-hour (or worse, cancelled)

He actually played. I was @#!!!in amazed he did so. That was a big part of the reason I didn't see anything sooner or more accessible because I knew his track record is very shoddy, and the last thing I wanted to do was go a few hundred miles just to get a ticket refund.

I still almost didn't go because a $600 plane ticket could buy lots of cheeseburgers.

I was 23 or 24- it was the strangest and most wonderful experience. I had never seen anything like The Smiths- and it made me realize there was something totally new and wonderful happening- the 70's were over with ( thank you god ) and here was music I could finally relate to. I am 37 now- and the feeling has NOT gone away.

Alas, I was too young to go to concerts when The Smiths were still together(I was only 9 when the broke up). I did see Moz in concert in 97 and even though it was only an hour long, it was fabulous. He looked great and he puts on a good show.

Unfortunately I never got the chance to see the Smiths live, but right before the first time I saw Moz live I got into a conversation about him with this guy who worked at the local record store. He saw the Smiths in Washington on the Queen is Dead tour (he was shocked at how old he was) and said it was completely chaotic and Moz had to be whisked off stage towards the end because everyone mobbed him. Needless to say, my experience was very similar when I saw him that weekend. It was definitely worth it though.

There are some joys of being 'old' after all....having seen The Smiths a few times is one of them...

I saw Moz only one time and he ripped it up! It was at the World outside of Chitown in 92. 10 Gallon Drunk opened and were horrible, but Moz made it all worth it. My wife (not a fan) actually dug it.

Met him in Blackpool back in 95. He is SO in tune with life and death, you can taste his lyrics.
Please tour england soon, moz. Love ya.

Saw them a few times... most memorable part of one -- Morrissey was ill, and threw up off the side of the stage... all over a few fans! Very interesting.... rumours were that he had had one too many before the show. Not sure if i believe that!

I was a junior in high school(1983)when my cousin gave me The Smiths cassette. i was hooked. I went to 4 Smith concerts in the mid eighties and have been to 4 Morrissey concerts. Including a blockbuster signing where I stood in line for 3 1\2 hours, I got to within 10 people away when he decided he had signed enough and called it quits. Even though I was pissed I didn't get an autograph, I was with him in the same room about 20 feet away for most of the time. That was cool just wathing him and understanding the guy that gave me so much meaning to my highshool years.

I had tickets for The Smiths Queen is Dead tour in 1986 at Vanderbilt Univ. in Nashville.
The bastards cancelled.
I also had tix for Morrissey Nashville 1991.
He cancelled that one too.
I was lucky to see him in Cincy '91, Cleveland '92 & '97.

I was lucky to have been able to see The Smiths on June 21st 1985 at the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland California for the Meat Is Murder tour. At the show they sold a Meat is Murder T-Shirt, a Button for your Jacket, a Tour Book and a Poster all for the low price of $20 bucks, what a deal. I was 17 years old then and now I'm 31, what an excellent show they put on. The band James was supposed to open for them but instead they had some Cross Dressers get up on stage and sing Madonna songs it was kinda silly. I believe the same day as that show Johnny Marr married his wife across the bay in San Francisco.
