Morrissey mention on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show"

Thanks to the 100 people who saw the reference on the March 30 show for letting me know. From Macca P.:

Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show', made reference to ol' Mozzer during Tuesday night's episode, March 30. He was commentating nonsensically on some footage from Monday night's NCAA Basketball Championship Game and said something like, "We here at The Daily Show would like to say more about the game, but most of us spent our teenage years playing Dungeons & Dragons and trying to get our hair to look like Morrissey's." At which point, a head shot of Morrissey appeared in the upper left of the television screen. The shot is one I've seen before, and I have a copy of it in the liner notes to a so-so bootleg called 'Rusholme Ruffians Play at Home', recorded in Manchester, 31 March 1985. That's a bit eerie about the date, no?

Comments / Notes

Jon Stewart is an ass. Moz plug or no Moz plug. Craig Kilbourn was hilarious. I'm sure you'd all no doubt support Jesse Helms if he made some ridiculously irrelevant nod at Morrissey. Saddos..

Jon Stewart and Craig Kilborn are both hilarious. I remember Kilborn also made reference to Moz back when Tony Blair became Prime Minister--"...and in related news, singer Morrissey is STILL DEPRESSED." The Daily Show is truly the smartest show since the show with the 3 puppets mocking the b-movies.

Woohoo! I thought I was the only MST/Moz fan. I'm seeking out other convergences of interests here... anyone listen to The Velvet Underground? :)

The picture they showed is inside "Hatful of Hollow" CD booklet at the end of all the lyrics. Kilborn was better, but Jon Stewart has his moments. I miss A. Whitney Brown as "Daily Show" news correspondent myself.

Yes, Kilborn has already taken over the Late Late Show. If you haven't seen it yet, it is *just* like the Daily Show except the interviews are the main part. He even does 5 Questions, the news, and A Moment For Us.

Stewart's right . . . well, except for the Dungeons and Dragons part.

OK! I think Craig Kilborn is one of the most finniest men alive besides Eddie Murphy, Chris Farly, and Phil Hartman. In my opinion Jon Stewart sucks a** but hey just mentioning Morrissey's name in a positive way I guess I'll think he is just a little cool!

John Stewert is just another example of an annoying Jew commedian. His comedy is alien, boring and crude. It's no wonder they always play nerds in films. Craig Killborn's daily show used to be one of the best programs on the air. If anyone know's why he left the show please e-mail me.

Am I the only one who doesn't live in front of my television?

When I posted there were 14 messages already- the exact number of years between the recording of the bootleg and the airing of the most significant episode of the Daily Show ever- I'm scared.

Jon Stewart (it's J-O-N, not J-O-H-N)is hilarious. I miss the Daily Show Correspondents but other than that I think he's really made the show his own. I saw some of Craig on the Late Late Show. It's just not the same without the Daily Show writers.
Also, I'd rather watch an "annoying Jew comedian" than listent to a bigot who has his head up his ass.

Kill Born replaced the decentigrating Tom Snyder, Late Late Show late host at CBS, for a handful more cash than he was making from Comedy Central, or so I've read.

PS If anyone knows the correct spelling of "decentigrating" please call me a racist bigot.

I think you guys are forgetting that it is the writers for the show that are putting the Moz comments in. Neither Kilborn nor Stewart do the show at random. They mostly just read it from cue cards.

And yes, Kilborn is now the host of the late late show. He moved on for more money.

I can't believe anyone would prefer Kilborn to Stewart, who makes daily homophobic and racist jokes under the guise of being "politically incorrect." Stewart -- and his writers -- know how to tread that delicate line without crossing over into crass stereotypes.

I think you all are skirting the main issue here... and shayne touched on it some... THE HAIR! Its the hair man!! Go grab the cover of KillUncle and just Look at that hair! Is this not a recurring, universal theme of life? Isnt it the first thing you notice? I used to have hair such as this, when i was 19 ...
