Quite right. I play in bands and have done 100+ gigs in my time. I don’t recall ever cancelling. And I’ve done a few gigs where I was pretty ill but soldiered on anyway. And when I’ve had to work a day job all day before going out to play the gig.
If I did have to cancel I would immediately...
Yeah I know what you mean. The whole tone of that song reminds me of people I know who are heavily into conspiracies and you never really know if they actually believe it or just enjoy the drama and the opportunity to wind people up.
If he carries on like this soon we’ll have a song about how...
Notre Dame is ‘controversial’ but at least it sounds good. Personally I think the one he should leave out of the set is ‘the night that pop dropped’. It always seems to fall flat and the energy in the crowd drops. He’s got much better new ones like ‘I am Veronica’ and ‘Rebels without applause’
Yes - the most likely total guess 🙂. Much as I love Moz I have to say it seems highly likely he is at fault here because if there was a reasonable excuse why on earth would he not give it?
If he explained why he cancelled the gig at the very last minute we wouldn’t have to guess, would we?!
I was there last night. I don’t think Morrissey made any mention of feeling ill. He seemed on top form. He did comment at one point that he thought he ‘looked odd’.
As well as the heckler above, there was a guy who when Moz introduced and thanked the the band started screaming out ‘Johnny Marr’...
He performed this Notre Dame song last night. The music was really good - a kicking track. But the lyrics are pretty dire. And why is he espousing a random conspiracy theory which surely was debunked long before he recorded this latest album?
I’m starting to think the reason he doesn’t self-release is because then he would have no one to blame when the record doesn’t do as well as he’d hoped.
A couple of quotes from Churchill:
"Democracy is the worst form of government, apart from all the others"
"The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter" :)
When someone starts a sentence with “No offence, but...“ you can guarantee they're about to come out with something massively offensive.
I don't wholly blame Thatcher because the policy began under Labour. She accelerated it and every government since has failed to reverse it. Prescott did at...
The system is deeply flawed, I'll give you that.
As I said though, white British are now a minority in London. So obviously there are going to be a lot of non-white people working in councils, and living in council housing. Many of them must be second or third generation immigrants. Why...
What Stalinspipe said is correct. I am not 'pontificating' I am giving you the benefit of my knowledge and experience, having worked for councils and housing associations and having many friends whose job is the allocstion of housing. Obviously I can't speak from direct experience about every...
