Aspiring barristers are not the only professionals who have to work a pupillage before being allowed a stab at success - excluding those without trust funds or sweaty sugar daddies.
Morrissey offered the Doll & The Kicks the life-changing opportunity of touring the United States in March and April this year - but they had to turn him down.
The band's singer, Hannah Scanlon (aka Doll), explained that the tour would have cost £30,000 and the four-set simply couldn't raise the funds.
This was despite the anticipated spike in sales for their eponymous debut album. They successfully supported Morrissey's Years of Refusal tour across the UK and through Europe.
She told the-sauce.org: "We all had jobs and we just couldn't afford to go. The Courteeners, who are a much bigger name than us, have got into huge debt to do the tour."
