BOOK CALL FOR MORRISSEY FANS

An English journalist is putting together a new book examining the unique relationship between Morrissey and his most obsessive fans.

"Meeting Morrissey" will be released late 2008/early 2009 and will include a collection of fan stories and photos of encounters with the great man...

Celebrity Morrissey fans from the world of TV and music are set to contribute but "Meeting Morrissey" is essentially about real fans: People who travel 4,000 miles for a concert, people who queue all night to be first in line, people who live for the music and Morrissey...

Author Dickie Felton, and self-confessed Morrissey nut, said: "The book will be unique in that Morrissey fan-culture is dramatically under reported.

"I'm not aware of any other singer who attracts the same sort of fan adoration as Morrissey.

"If you are lucky enough to get to the front of one of his concerts you will witness scenes of total fan-demonium. It's like a mad clamber stage-wards to touch the messiah...

"I've been laughed at for travelling thousands of miles for a Morrissey concert, or attending five shows in a week - but to me it's perfectly normal behaviour!

"I want fans who have meet Morrissey to get in touch and be part of the book. I've already been in contact with a few who have great stories and photos of chance meetings with Morrissey on sidewalks, in bars or whereever.

"The conversations between fan and the Moz can be hilarious, others are quite moving."

"Meeting Morrissey" will be full colour and promises to lift the lid on the most obsessive fans in music.

Fans interested in being included should get in touch with their stories and photos to [email protected]

MD1500 also sends another link about Russell Brand starring in the video:

Brand stars in Morrissey video - Chortle

Russell Brand is to star in the new video for his musical hero, Morrissey.

The comic is due to fly out to Los Angeles soon to shoot the promo with the ex-Smiths frontman.

His single, That's How People Grow Up, is due for release on January 28, a week ahead of a solo greatest hits album.

Brand is also reportedly making a documentary on Morrissey.

The comic is such a fan of the indie icon he has even named his cat after him.

Hello Morrissey fans,

I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know that the X-Factor band Futureproof have started covering Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before.

After hearing this version, I googled it and found out it was written by Morrissey. If I’m honest I prefer Futureproof’s version as it is more in tune and gives the song a whole new edge.

I’m sure all Morrissey and Smiths fans will be pleased with the boys effort as will the man himself. Hopefully they release it. Have a Happy New year.

Here is a link of them singing for the BBCs Children in Need concert in Meadowhall Sheffield.

Patrick Wolf

Excerpt:

Somehow, while nobody was looking, Patrick Wolf has become a singular pop star. In his dreams, this gangly 24-year-old is a dazzling, chart-friendly hybrid of Jacques Brel and Marc Bolan. At tonight's homecoming Christmas show, though, he more strikingly resembles a winningly slapstick encounter between Morrissey and Timmy Mallett.
