From True-To-You.net:

2 July 2007

Following the postponement due to illness of several shows last week, we are delighted to announce that Morrissey's U.S. tour will recommence tonight at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Va. Morrissey was suffering with a viral infection that brought his show in Boston at the Bank Of America Pavilion to a halt after seven songs last Tuesday the 26th of June. Following doctor's orders not to sing for five days, it also forced the postponement of shows in Northampton, Mass., Philadelphia, and New York's Madison Square Garden. The Boston show has been successfully rescheduled for this Saturday the 7th of July, and all tickets from the original date will be honored. It is hoped that rescheduled dates for New York, Philadelphia, and Northampton will be secured and announced in the next 24 hours.

Less is Morr-issey for moody crooner - Boston Herald
By Jed Gottlieb / Music
Thursday, June 28, 2007 - Updated: 02:53 PM EST

Morrissey has become the Goldilocks of pop.

It was too hot at Tuesday’s Bank of America Pavilion show, which he canceled after seven songs.

It was too cold at his “Late Show With David Letterman” taping earlier in the week.

And right now there’s no word on when it will be just right for him to return for a Boston makeup show.

The British crooner complained to the Pavilion crowd that he was suffering from “Letterman throat” after performing in the CBS talk show host’s chilly studio.

“Unfortunately, it will not just be the emotions cracking tonight, but my voice as well,” he told disappointed fans.

In a statement released yesterday by promoter Live Nation, a Morrissey spokesperson said the singer is suffering from a throat infection and was ordered by his doctor not to sing for three days, forcing postponements of a show at Northampton’s Pines Theater last night and one tomorrow in Philadelphia. The tour should resume Saturday at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The former lead singer of England’s Smiths, who is known to fanatical followers as the Mozzer, hopes to reschedule this week’s canceled shows.

While tickets to the short Boston show will presumably be honored when it is rescheduled, many fans remain displeased. While some posters to online message boards have forgiven their idol, others are fuming - and speculate that “postponed” in this case is a euphemism for canceled. Even if Morrissey and Live Nation - who said more information will be released within 24 hours - can reschedule the Boston show, fans who flew to Boston from the West Coast, England and South America will be unable to recoup their investment.

An announcement at Tuesday’s concert inviting everyone to come see Morrissey at his rescheduled show was greeted with boos and one shout of, “We can’t if we came from Argentina to see this show.”

This article from The Guardian appears to have slipped under the radar, though it's been online for a number of weeks now. After the last disappointing album, I'd be inclined to agree with John Harris. I do hope it's not the case, however. One shoddy album does not necessarily equate a "creative flatline". Still, a well-written article, though one that the vultures on this site are bound to rip apart.

...just thought I'd pass this on to you for mutual grrrrrring. I *was* a fan of the comedian Regan Burns (last seen on Comedy Central's "Half Way Home".) However today he posted a blasphemous blog, the first line being "I just can't STAND any music by Morrissey or The Smiths. How can anyone find that stuff enjoyable to listen to?" I tried repeatedly to comment and hand him his empty head, but MySpace was in rare form -- the ubiquitous error page appeared no less than 8 times in a row. Finally I gave up and just removed the ass from my friends list. Anyway, should you want to unleash the Morrissey-solo masses on the unbeliever, this is his myspace page: http://myspace.com/regisme

For those outside of Los Angeles or who don't receive The Los Angeles Times, there was a front page article on Manchester in the Sunday Travel section which mentions The Smiths and Morrissey. Below find a link to the online article:
