In today's Gothenbug Post there was an article named "Morrissey to Way Out West". According to the newspaper's sources (not one but many apparently) it's not only Morrissey but also Nine Inch Nails and The Pogues (rumoured since January) that are coming to the Way Out West festival in Gothenburg, 10th-11th August.

When Joel Borg, one of the organisers, was asked about this he just replied "Well, it's many names that are currently up for discussion and these are certainly being discussed. But what I know is that nothing is certain yet."

And, last time GP had rumours of Morrissey coming to Gothenburg it was true. So, let's hope.

From Yahoo News.

NEW YORK (Billboard) - British independent music company Sanctuary Group will wind down the majority of the operations at its U.S. label this summer, according to a source within the company.

However, it will continue to run its catalog, licensing and new media operations. U.K. executives arrived in New York last Thursday and told Sanctuary Records staffers that they would cut operations by June 30, according to a source at the label.

The label will still work on current records, as well as those coming to market, like former Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan's solo debut "Are You Listening?," which is due out May 15.

"It is important to do the right things for albums like those," says one source. "But then everyone who deals with front-line will be leaving at various times over the new few months," including marketing, publicity and most sales personnel.

Meanwhile, the catalog, licensing, and new media department and certain back-office functions will remain staffed in the U.S. going forward.

The label is also home to artists such as Morrissey, Widespread Panic, Motorhead and Idlewild.

Sanctuary Records To Cease U.S. Operations

According to a source within the company, Sanctuary Records' U.S. label will cease to release new material this starting this summer. Similar to a recent move at V2 Records, Sanctuary will only continue to run its catalog and licensing operations. All affected staffers, which includes marketing, publicity and most sales personnel, will be let go by June 30th. The label will still work the albums they recently released such as Idlewild's Make Another World, as well as upcoming albums from Tegan And Sara and former Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan. The label is home to artists from Morrissey to Motorhead.

Arctic Monkeys lay into Lily Allen producer - NME.com

Band 'can't fucking stand' Mark Ronson's Smiths cover

Arctic Monkeys have hit out at Lily Allen's producer Mark Ronson.

The Sheffield four-piece slammed his cover of The Smiths' 'Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before', which is due out on Monday (April 9).

Frontman Alex Turner said: "I hate all those 'Pop Idol' singers. And let me tell you what I can't stand - that fucking R&B cover version of 'Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before'."

The band also criticised the state of hip-hop, and declared it officially dead.

Guitarist Jamie Cook told The Sun: "Even music I don't usually listen to, like hip-hop, is obviously bad at the moment. There is no real hip-hop anymore.

"Timbaland is a good producer, but he's in every song right now. Come on, there are other producers - and other beats."

The band are due to release their new single 'Brianstorm' on April 16 before their new album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' follows a week later.
