Finalists announced on February 28th - esctoday.com
UK: It's not Morrissey (or Billie Piper)!

The BBC will reveal the finalists that will compete in the fourth annual Making Your Mind Up national final on February 28th. esctoday.com can reveal that Morrissey will not be featured either as a singer or a songwriter. The full list of participants will be revealed on Wednesday 28th February, and of course esctoday.com will as usual be at the annual launch event to bring you the best online coverage of the United Kingdom.

Morrissey, who's name spread around the world as a potential songwriter for the United Kingdom's Eurovision Song Contest entry this year, will not be playing a part in Making Your Mind Up.

News spread from The Sun to CNN and was a regular spot on the BBC News 24 channel when it was announced that he had been contacted but esctoday.com has been officially told by the BBC that "Morrissey will not be involved this year".

The BBC confirmed it has spoken to Morrissey as it had done a number of other artists as is always the case when looking for artists to take part.

Other claims that Billie Piper would participate were also dismissed as laughable. The former pop star has been keen to promote her growing reputation as an actress after winning several awards for her role in the new Doctor Who series and has made it clear on many occasions that she sees acting as her career focus for the foreseeable future.

As a member of the 'Big Four' countries, the United Kingdom automatically qualifies for the Eurovision Song Contest final on 12th May in Helsinki.

Russell Brand played the Liverpool empire last night. The glossy programme for the event features loads of Morrissey reference including the transcript of the Radio 2 interview by Brand with Morrissey earlier this year. There were many pages with reference to Morrissey including some photo's of a younger Brand entitled Used to be a Sweet Boy, a piece on his Vegetarianism under the banner meat is murder, a list of his favourite Smiths, Morrissey songs with reasons and loads of Morrissey photos.

At the start of the show he came out to Last of the Famous International Playboys and made reference to his cat Morrissey.

Towards the end of the show he asked the audience for questions and someone shouted out are you friends with Morrissey now, he replied yes, sort of, if you consider nodding your head in acknowledgment if you saw each other at a function friends, oh well no then not really.
