The week starting Monday the 12th to Sunday the 18th of February has been chosen to download ‘Life is a Pigsty’ in to the charts.

If you have already signed up to the http://www.getmozinthecharts.vze.com/ website then you will receive an e-mail confirming this date. If you haven’t signed up already please do so in order to receive updates.

For a list of available download sites see the ‘where to download’ section on the http://www.getmozinthecharts.vze.com/ website.

The lowest priced site appears to be itunes, 79p per song. But of course feel free to download ‘Pigsty’ as many times as you wish.

Itunes cards are also available from various stores. These allow you too download up to £15 or £25 worth of music from itunes.

Non-UK Downloads

It would be great help if non UK fans could take part. There’s a website called http://bleep.com/ which apparently doesn’t ask for a shipping address, but there’s been no evidence that this website works. So if anyone knows of any other download sited please let us know.

Or alternatively someone suggested that it’s possible to transfer money to a UK based fan using paypal and ask them to download the song for you.

For this campaign to work we need everyone to get involved so please do all you can to spread the word.

Thank you

Johnny Marr reveals The Smiths' 'most enduring song' - NME.com

Without further ado it is...

The Smiths' guitarist Johnny Marr has declared the band's 1985 single 'How Is Soon Is Now?' the "band's most enduring record".

But the star, talking about the seminal track in this month's issue of Uncut, doesn't like Russian pop duo T.A.T.u.'s 2003 version, calling it "plastic music".

Marr said of the song: "It's possibly our most enduring record. It's most people's favourite. And it's the guitar track I'm still most asked about.

"When we'd done 'How Soon Is Now?', we knew it was something else."

The new Healers (Marr's sometime band) do a really good job of it. I know Morrissey still does it live, too. But T.A.T.u.'s version was just silly. Plastic music."

The interview is part of a look at The Smiths' 30 greatest songs, chosen by the likes of REM, Ian Brown, Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand.

Uncut is on sale via UK newsstands now, priced £4.20.

See Uncut.co.uk for more information.

My friend and I snuck back stage during sound check at the Moz show last night. We found a door on the right balcony that was open so we walked in. We sat an listened while both acts warmed up.

It was still early, and we knew we needed to make a move. So we walked down stairs with confidence; acting like we were supposed to be there. We got to the lobby smiled to the women in the yellow coat and said "hello" as she open the door for us to walk in to the orchestra section. It think her guard was down because we were wearing PRIEST COSTUMES!!

We wandered around and found an empty dressing room. On our way we actually saw Morrissey! He was tacking up Kristen Young's dressing room sign. My friend asked if he could introduce himself and he said "no" and then he walked away. We followed him for a bit, but then retreated to our home base (the empty dressing room) and regrouped.

We remained back stage while Kristen Young was performing. We were able to walk accross the stage behind the back drop and get to Morrissey's dressing room. It had several record covers with various pictures (there were several of Rip Taylor). I timidly knocked and no one answered. The guards looked at us, but we quickly left before they could throw us out. We headed back to the dressing room with our hearts racing.

We thought we would try to see him between the two sets. So we waited and pounced, but our time was up. We were asked for our passes when we were standing at his door for the second time. We hesitated and then they grabbed us by the back of our costumes and forcefully sent us out.

The cops were pretty aggressive. And, I am not kidding, one of the cops told us they had to be aggressive because "Well, after 9/11 you have to be cautious." They walked us through the Sheraton lobby to the other side of the street and told us not to come back or we would be arrested for trespassing. So exciting, so disappointing, and so expensive (since we couldn't see the show our Ebay purchased pit tickets went to waste).

We missed the show, but it sounds like he played the exact show as Thursday. I think the adventure made up for our loss.
