Today in El Norte newspaper in Monterrey they anounced the Morrissey concert in Monterrey, it will be in Arena Monterrey (a new great place for concerts, where many artists have played: Depeche Mode, the Cure, Duran Duran, etc).

They also published the sale of tickets in a huge add in the printed paper (dont have a scan to send it now). They are for sale now!! I already bought mine. The are from 1150 to 230 pesos, thats around 100 Usd to 20 Usd. (www.superboletos.com).

So Texans you can come over to Monterrey, its a 2 hr drive from Laredo, Tx.

WELCOME TO A NEW JUNGLE: The word from London is that Rod Smallwood is finally untangling himself from Sanctuary, the company he co-founded, taking cornerstone act Iron Maiden with him. Will his departure from the much-maligned company clear the way for Merck Mercuriadis to get his own exit deal done so that he can join Irving Azoff's management firm? Merck's situation is relatively complicated, as he will continue to manage Elton John for Sanctuary while taking Morrissey and Guns N' Roses with him to Azoff. (10/19a)

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted here yet (and even more surprised that I therefore seem to be the only Morrissey-solo visitor who reads Brooklyn Vegan):

Ennio Morricone playing Radio City | presale

"Ennio Morricone is playing Radio City Music Hall on February 3, 2007. Tickets are now on presale. (Code = "BAENNIO") (thx Andy!)"

Note that this contradicts Morrissey's expectation of singing at a Morricone performance at Carnegie Hall (as stated in his letter posted on true-to-you.net six weeks ago). Of course, a Carnegie Hall performance may nonetheless be in the works. Who knows if Morrissey will be at this Radio City Music Hall performance?

In his scathing review of the film "Running with Scissors" in the current New York Press, Armond White has this to say:

It has to be noted that Murphy's distillation of Burrough's plot closely resembles Morrissey's song "The Father Who Must Be Killed" but with none of the elegance or intelligence. In that stunning, unfunny cry against abuse, Morrissey wasn't on a vindictive Oedipal kick; he condensed a personal tragedy into an emotional epic that radiated pathos for all: 'Just as motherless birds fly high/So shall I.' That ingenious last phrase, a homonym for the "social I," takes the song to Baldwin/McCullers heights. It exposes Burroughs and Murphy to be pikers."

Not a huge story, but it's always nice to see Mozza's latest work cited for it's cultural relevance. Mr. White has written about Morrissey before.
