Sunday Times (London) spin 'True to You' Q&A. Must a have been a slow news day, couple of rent-a-quotes. Nice big picture on page 7 though.

MORRISSEY, the pop singer and outspoken vegan, has been branded irresponsible for publicly backing violent attacks by extremists against scientists and companies involved in medical research using animals.

The “New Criminologist” is the oldest journal for professionals involved in all aspects of criminology, and features the world’s eminent crime authorities. How bizarre to find an article then on one of Morrissey’s latest question-and-answer sessions up on its website: Former Smiths frontman Morrissey blasts Bush and Blair.

Here’s how it starts off: “Morrissey has had a go at George W Bush and Tony Blair in answer to questions put to him on fan website true-to-you.net. The question asked how he defined himself politically and he answered to the effect that he has no party loyalty, saying: "I find myself opposing barbarism…”

Dunno if it’s a compliment or a caution, but people in the most unlikely places are obviously sitting up and taking notice of his well-articulated views.

Celebrity etiquette

The drugs don't work - but cheese, chips and being normal is true star quality

excerpt:

"An unlikely addition to the lapsed celebrity crew is Morrissey, whose recent revival coincided with an outing for his previously hidden human side. He got cheerfully drunk during the last interview he gave, and he's been snapped lounging about in a football shirt. The gladioli, hearing aid and grumpiness a distant memory"

Spot the Irony. Many of us will remember how Moz was crucified in the press all those years ago for his use of the Union Flag. But it now seems Moz was a visionary and genius the kind of which the present Chancellor of Great Britain is only just catching up on. On the front page of the Guardian today (14th January) Gordon Brown is quoted as saying "The union flag should be a British symbol of unity around our values...and we should assert that the union flag is for tolerance and inclusion". It also mentions Brown thinks the flag needs to be recaptured from the far right. So is this evidence that was Moz years ahead of his time?
