Here's a story which may be of interest or maybe not:

Punk film premiere - 28 years on - ManchesterOnline

"A 1977 documentary about a cult Manchester band famous for sacking Morrissey is to have its world premiere in Salford.

After discovering several hours of archive film stuffed away in a Manchester attic, a documentary about Wythenshawe punks, Ed Banger and the Nosebleeds, Morrissey's first ever band before he formed The Smiths, is to be shown at King's Arms, Bloom Street, Salford on Friday, March 4 at 7.30pm. . Whether any footage of Morrissey is included in the 30 hours of film, the article didn't say. Vini Reilly, who worked with Morrissey on Viva Hate, was also in the band.

Vote Morrissey's homecoming as the best Manchester moment of 2004:

Best of Manchester 2004 - BBC Manchester

Morrissey comes home:

The year of the Moz that was. A long-awaited new album and Morrissey mania went mental. But his finest hour was Manchester's Move festival at Lancs cricket ground. Thought this was interesting. On the main page of allmusic.com they spotlight people/groups every so often and I just noticed this:

Classic Artist
Jobriath
In the '70s, Jobriath was often seen as a cautionary tale of hype, but after his AIDS-related death in 1983, the legend around him and his music grew until he became a cult icon with fans including Morrissey and the Pet Shop Boys. The recent compilation Lonely Planet Boy (which was released by Morrissey's Attack label) brings his music to CD for the first time and celebrates his status as one of America's wildest glam-rockers, as well as one of rock's first openly gay artists.

I thought you might me interested in reading that the Rank company (of "Carry On" fame) is no longer active in the film industry.

Anyway here is the article from the Timesonline website:

The End: film icon is bong, bong, gone
By Jack Malvern, Arts Reporter

THE Rank gong, which preceded feature presentations in British cinemas for 60 years, bonged for the last time yesterday as the company pulled out of the film industry.
