I don't think this has been mentioned. While shopping the Circuit City site I noticed they have "Let Me Kiss You" maxisingles 1 & 2 listed with a U.S. release date of 1/4/2005. You can preorder them now for $11.99 each. No picture of the sleeve or track listing of b-sides. Why make us wait 2 months?

EMI Records have re-released Sandie Shaw's 1988 album Hello Angel on CD (EMI 7243 8 66255 2 6) in Europe.

The disc does not only feature the eleven original tracks from the Rough Trade Records release, recorded with the help of The Smiths and former Morrissey partners Stephen Street, Mark E. Nevin, Andrew Paresi, Clive Langer / Alan Winstanley and Kevin Amstrong (all working with Morrissey in 1989/1990 e.g. on Kill Uncle and November Spawned A Monster) but also features all B-Sides from Shaw's three singles during the Rough Trade era, including all tracks recorded with the Smiths, as bonus tracks.

All 17 tracks have been remastered and new liner notes - along with the original ones - tell all about the Shaw/Smith relationship. The tracklist runs as follows:

01 Nothing Less Than Brilliant (produced by Stephen Street) * 02 Hello Angel (produced by Stephen Street) * 03 Take Him (produced by Stephen Street) * 04 A Girl Called Johnny (produced by Clive Langer, Alan Winstanley and Peter Jones) * 05 Strange Bedfellows (co-written and produced by Kevin Armstrong) * 06 Please Help The Cause Against Loneliness (written by Morrissey / Street, produced by Stephen Street) * 07 Hand In Glove (written by Morrissey / Marr, produced by John Porter, remixed by Stephen Street) * 08 Cool About You (produced by Stephen Street) * 09 Flesh And Blood (co-written by Kevin Armstrong, produced by Stephen Street) * 10 Comrade In Arms (co-written by Clive Langer, produced by Stephen Street) * 11 I Will Remain (produced by Stephen Street)
Bonus Tracks: 12 Lover Of The Century (co-written and co-produced by Mark E. Nevin) * 13 Where Were You (produced by Stephen Street) * 14 I Love Peace (co-written and co-produced by Kevin Armstrong) * 15 Jeane * 16 I Don't Owe You Anything * 17 Hand In Glove (Original Single Version) (last three written by Morrissey / Marr, recorded with The Smiths in 1984)

In an interview with The Guardian today (Oct. 28), Sandie Shaw talks about Morrissey, amongst other things. The most interesting part is this:

What followed inspired Shaw's most famous fan, Morrissey, to write the lyric: "Did that swift eclipse torture you?"

I didn't realise 'Little Man' was inspired by Sandie Shaw...

Fort Worth meet and greet ... He seemed in good spirits for the entire 2 minutes it took :) When I shook his hand he mumbled "firm grip". Next to me someone said "It's very nice to meet you" to which Morrissey replied "No it isn't."

It was some of the tightest security I've ever seen backstage As we filed out we passed the band's dressing room which bore the sign Mozzer's Men and saw all their matching outfits laid out for them Here are some pictures: pic1, pic2.

Review: Morrissey pines to survive the Smiths and himself

12:06 AM CDT on Friday, October 29, 2004

By THOR CHRISTENSEN / The Dallas Morning News

FORT WORTH – Blame it on the lunar eclipse, or the cold he had, or on all those empty seats facing him in Will Rogers Auditorium. Whatever the cause, Morrissey was in quite a snit.

Just wanted to let all the completests know that I just bought "The Best of Morrissey" today, and it comes with a new slip-cover. (Sorry I don't have a scanner.) The slip cover has the words morrissey in the left top corner and Greatest Hits writen in the right hand corner and a shrunken picture of the original cover off center. The back of the slip case has a thumbnail sketch of the front cover and a two sentence review of the disc. Intersting enough the SKU# and Barcode # is the same as the original disc but the new slipcover left off the Sire symbol.

Sal Ciolfi, a writer at the brilliant online magazine of global culture, www.popmatters.com, says that Hatful of Hollow is her favorite album of all time, "There aren't many bands within modern English language pop music that can elicit heartfelt sighs, and much less in today's mainstream. Often it doesn't seem possible that something or someone could come along and be cared about as much as the Smiths' rabid fans still care about them."

ChartAttack.com
Chartattack.com reports how Canadian band "The Dears" caught Morrissey's attention while he was in Toronto and got invited to open for him in LA after he bought up their entire past catalog.

Full story

Here's a portion:

Only a complete musical ignoramus would deny that The Dears' melodramatic pop is deeply influenced by Morrissey and The Smiths, so The Dears' Murray Lightburn was elated and flattered when he learned that the Mozzer himself had personally chosen the band to back him up at Massey Hall.

Well, it turns out that Moz really dug The Dears. A lot. When we heard rumours that people from the Sanctuary/Morrissey camp showed up at a T.O. HMV looking for The Dears' back catalogue we were encouraged, but assumed that Mozzer's reported love for all things Lightburn was grossly exaggerated. It's now been revealed that Morrissey has put his money where his mouth is and is about to introduce The Dears to a whole new population of fans.
