The Late Late Show website lists Morrissey as a guest on Thursday, August 26th - Killer's next to last show. It doesn't list the guests for Friday - maybe an encore performance?

No word on when that performance will be (or was) taped. Seeing as how Moz has a gig in the UK on the 28th, this may be the 3rd song they recorded back in July that they didn't use.

The Woosh Sound

One of you posted in one of my journal threads (Live from LA) not to let Jerry Finn push the freaking "woosh" button on Eisley's record. He and thousands of seriously disgruntled Morrissey fans hated the "woosh" sound on one of the songs on the new, long awaited (7 years) solo record song. We asked Jerry today about it. He said, "It wasn't my idea, I hated it and didn't want it on the record, but Morrissey insisted".

Fans blame Jerry while Morrissey won't take the bullet...claiming, "producing is a lonely job".

There you have it: the scoop, right here on Eisley's forum. Spread the word. Jerry Finn should be vindicated. He hated the "woosh". However, Jerry adds, in the end, this record looks like it will out sell any of the various Smith's records.

There will be no "whoosh" on Eisley's record. Jerry claims "it's cheesy". Besides, any "woosh" sounds would have come from Rob Schnapf...and Rob is incapable of producing cheese. Bd

Morrissey has appeared in this month's Mojo magazine, in the feature known as "All Back To My Place", in which three artists are asked to choose their favourite records.

Morrissey's choices were as follows:

What music are you currently grooving to?: Damien Dempsey, 'Seize The Day'. "He has the most stunning voice in the universe".

What is your all-time favourite album?: The New York Dolls debut album. "I think it still has no competition as the most perfect piece of pop presentation".

What was the first record you bought, and where did you buy it?: 'Come And Stay With Me' 7" single. " I bought it in a shop in Moss Side called Paul Marsh. I didn't understand what she was singing, but I lost myself to it".

Which musician, other than yourself, have you ever wanted to be?: "I'm not a musician. I've never wanted to be a musician. Never ever. It's a totally demoralising occupation, so the answer has to be....no one".

What do you sing in the shower?: (Very long pause)... "That's a very tricky question....(long pause)... A very trick question, because I sing absolutely everything... (long pause)... 'Ave Maria'".

What is your favourite Saturday night record?: 'Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy' by The Tams.

And your Sunday morning record?: 'Death' by Klaus Nomi...(thinks), or 'Lazy Sunday' by The Small Faces.

Great Debate BBC 6 Music

Posted By: Lazy Dyke
Date: Sunday, 22 August 2004, at 10:55 a.m.

On the main page of BBC 6 Music there's a small picture of Morrissey (Kill Uncle cover shot), beside a link to the Great Debate page. The topic is "Better In A Band: Are solo artists ever better than the bands that spawned them?" The presenter, Mark Sutherland, talks about different artists who have gone solo after the dissolution of their bands, and writes briefly of Moz:

"Morrissey – wrote a million genius songs with The Smiths, precisely two without them (Suedehead and The First Of The Gang To Die, since you ask)."

(I would have to disagree with this assertion - I mean, he doesn't even rate "Everyday Is Like Sunday?!).

People are asked to contribute comments on the same page.

The Steve Wright show yesterday(20th August, BBC Radio2) had the regular feature 'Ask Elvis'(wherein an Elvis impersonator answers listeners questions in an exagerrated drawl), but this week Wright asked 'Elvis' about Morrissey. He('Elvis') claimed to be great admirer of Morrissey, and then proceeded to sing "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now", accompanying himself on acoustic guitar.

While the singing was the usual oft-imitated Presley drawl, the guitar playing(both intro and main riff were played) was exceptional, almost worthy of Marr himself.

A funny piece all in, and a surprising highlight to the weeks radio.

As previously mentioned on Morrissey-solo, Johnny Marr and the song 'London' is featured on this Rodney Bingenheimer documentary called "The Mayor of the Sunset Strip".

Here is the brief Morrissey mention on the second audio commentary track with Chris Carter & Rodney Bingenheimer:
Chris: Intermission. That's it-- Back. Smiths. (The Smiths' "London" is playing). We're just in time for the comeback of Morrissey.
Rodney: Yeah. The new album is pretty good.
Chris: Is it?
Rodney: Yeah, it's really good.
Chris: I know he play the whole month at the Wiltern.
Rodney: I went to see Morrissey with Nancy Sinatra
Chris: Oh, that's right, he's a big fan of hers, right? Did you know Steve MacDonald, the other MacDonald, in the Sparks now, is playing for the Morrissey-thing, in that thing that he picks all the bands?
Rodney: The Meltdown Festival. The New York Dolls are getting back together.
Also, I have posted a screen shot of Johnny Marr on my website (link).

i just screened this shirt that you see. i want to go see morrissey as many times as possible on this upcoming fall tour (i personally believe it will be his last) so i am selling mozfather t-shirts. i know begging for money on the internet is the worst thing ever, which is why you will get an awesome shirt bang for your hard-earned buck. please check out this site: http://emotionlotion.org/moz, and tell anyone you know who likes morrissey & would like these shirts to do so, too.

i bought tickets to the washington dc show this morning, but i'd love to sell enough shirts to get to the philly, new york, chicago, nashville, and atlanta shows as well! :)
thanks!
