In the last issue of 'Hand in Hand', the official fanzine of Dutch football club Feyenoord Rotterdam, a few words are dedicated to Morrissey.

Before the matches of Feyenoord you can hear some U2 tunes quite often.
Because U2 decided not to perform in Rotterdam during their upcoming tour, but selected Amsterdam, it is suggested to never again play a U2 song in the Rotterdam stadium.

Because Morrissey will be in Rotterdam (June 6), instead of Amsterdam, the proposal in the fanzine is to play 'Irish Blood, English Heart' from now on.

  • The only song to be played at Feyenoord should be the Carol remix.
    Forza AJAX !

  • I was as surprised when I first saw this...as a Feyenoord fan I'd sooner peg Morrissey as an ADO supporter, though. For fuck's sake...not bloody Ajax!

  • What a stupid reason to pick a song. You might pick a song from any other performer/band who plays in Rotterdam. By the way, Feyenoord is not the club to be associated with these days...

  • Why doesn't U2 want to come to Rotterdam?

  • never heard that u2 was connected to a soccerteam
    even in Holland

as for Fyenoord, they copy the ultime footbal anthem

    'we'll never walk alone'

sung by a Dutch dockworker, who sung Sinatra songs in his spare times, his nam e is Leen Huizer, or his artist name Lee Towers
That dockwork was 30 or more years, he's one
of the more succesfull Dutch singers for people
but can't throw his golden mic in the Maas

he sung it many times before games in de Kuip,
    Fyenoord stadion name

[me thinking some to compare with in england, yeah Engelbert Humpferding or somethink like that, so feel the pain of the die hard fans]
