I was lucky enough to be at Morrissey's 50th birthday party at the Manchester Apollo on Friday 22nd May.

For those who weren't or have had their concert cancelled enjoy nearly the whole set

  • I wish I could have been there. I've seen my fair share of Moz shows. Each time he comes out on stage I almost burst into tears but I hold it. I don't think I would have held it there.

There is nothing better than being surrounded by Moz fans when everyone is singing along in unison.

  • For those of you commenting that you would have wanted to be there on the 22nd; I can understand your desire. The reality however, was just plain dull. This tour as a whole has been dreadful; a new low for Morrissey and a new low for me. The only inspired and special point of the night was Doll and the Kicks covering Hand In Glove - quite wonderful.

I know he was ill (he's always ill), but this hyped gig of gigs was a damp squib. Belfast was my least enjoyable gig but both Manchester gigs come a very close second.

What have I learned from my experience of this tour and recent press release? 2 things: I will only buy one ticket (if that) to one Scottish gig of the next tour (if there is one) and only attend if he is on form. I will NOT buy Swords.
