Looking at an advertisement the other day for Morrissey's forthcoming gig at The Oasis Swindon,Wiltshire, England. Can't believe he's playing in my home town. The Actress Diana Dors was born here one of Mozzer's heroes. Anyway at the bottom it says "Swords the B-Side album" coming soon. Does anyone know anything about this? Hope the track "My Dearest Love" is on there. It would be great to have that one on CD. Thanks From a Morrissey loving Swindonian

  • I suppose he is releasing this to make up for the lack of sales for Years of Refusal. I hate to say it but it sell even less than Years of Refusal.

  • Is it possible that any of the b-sides could be released as a single?
I'm not clued up enough to know whether a beside can and is allowed to be released as a sinlge.

Sweetie Pie alternative version. In this version it is such a beautiful song...And no covers please...and no live versions please...This compilation could be as good as Bona Drag or Hatful of Hollow have been: I've always felt them like real albums.

  • yeah, b-sides are always cool as long as they aren't just live versions of older songs, especially Smiths songs. I would buy it as I don't really collect CD singles any more. But if it is a bunch of A-Sides and live stuff, I will probably pass

  • "Sweetie pie" is dreadful but I love "Because of My Poor education" and "Christian Dior". Hope they are included, possibly "Slum Mums" as well.

  • Just what the world needed. The chance to buy "Shame is the name", "Slum Mums" and all those other classics once again. But what I'm REALLY looking forward to is the day he re-releases "Years of Refusal" with a new sleeve and a rejigged track sequence. I just can't get enough of all those wonderful Morrissey repackagings.

Wondering which albums are classed ass the last 3?.
Are the 2 new reissues included in them, or the live album. You are the You Are the Quarry already had the b sides released as part of a deluxe edition. It will be really worth it if the b sides from the 7 inch singles are included, as I guess that most of the newer fans don't have a record player. (Im 44 and don't have one). So here's hoping its Years of Refusal, Ringleader of the Tormentors and Live at Earls Court

  • Morrissey writes: "I am excited about the October release of Swords.."

Why are you excited, Morrissey? Where's the thrill in re-re-releasing old b-sides?

Mind you, it will fail horribly. No one will buy this "Swords" album, except a few completists. Even die hard fans will let this one pass by. I know I will.

First the Quarry b-sides on single, then the same songs on the Quarry deluxe-edition and now once more on "Swords"?

Yes, i have heard and grown to love some of the tracks on youtube, but its hardly the same thing coming out of tiny laptop speakers. I would be angry if the b-sides WERENT released.
