Maladjusted Cover Art...

I've just received an email from Record Store today about wanting to pre-order the Maladjusted re-release.

Here's the cover I think they might be using...I couldn't find a bigger image. Does anyone know anymore about the cover?

  • Morrissey... (assuming this is legitimate) get No Allegiances to redo the typography. There's a lovely negative space in the upper right area just begging to be filled. Say no to drop shadows!

  • With the "Cash" image being used for stickers and a t-shirt, I expected something more along those lines. This looks like something he'd bin. Oh well, unless it has "Kitt" on it, it will be ho-hum, so the image matches.

  • ...this is a bit of a let-down for me. If it weren't for the omission of Roy's Keen and Papa Jack, I'd feel a lot better about it. It won't be Maladjusted without those two tracks.

  • Don't know why this upsets me so much but I don't like the bit about removing tracks off an album. I'm all for remastering and tacking on bonus tracks...I'll even put up with changing the track order but to take out tracks is absurd...especially one that was a single. Only makes him look foolish trying to re-write history. The best re-issues tend to come out after the artist is dead. I most definately dont' wish Moz dead but this just irks me. I'll stick with my original copy until the 30th anniverssary edition comes out with everything on it.

This can't be right. He looks so smug in that picture. The image doesn't fit the album title at all. Perhaps he should change the name of the album to 'Adjusted'.

  • Jude Rogers again, eh... I think she's right to criticise certain aspects of the reissues. But to dismiss both Southpaw and Maladjusted as merely "lumpen" is short-sighted and ignorant. As a critic and a fan you'd think she'd be able to offer a bit more critical perspective. Then she goes on to complain about these (supposedly) bad albums being made worse. Jude, if you despise these albums so much, why do you give a damn?

    Bitchy.

  • ...to remove 2 of the better tracks from the album (Roy's Keen and Papa Jack). Sure, some of the added B-sides are great, but this is the stupidest idea of a re-issue ever. I guess they want you to go buy the original that you lost years ago too, so you can get all the tracks.

The cover art is simply fantastic: it's the everyday man on the street in a normal day, just living his maladjusted existence. Morrissey is an artist, and a man, before being a "pop star"! He is telling his stories, not just trying to be cool. I really think our society is deeply ill.

I think this is a so-called digipack with a booklet attached to it?

What were the released dates again?

  • The new edition of Maladjusted is a far superior album to the original release. The sequencing, plus the addition/subtraction of certain tracks, really moves this one up in the rankings for me. Roy's Keen and Papa Jack were, honestly, no great loss, more than made up for by Lost and I Can Have Both.
