Will Morrissey make it to Pittsburgh this time? - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Thursday, March 12, 2009
By Scott Mervis, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

To draw a rather unlikely comparison between four metal gods and one of rock's great male divas, having a ticket for a Morrissey concert in Pittsburgh the past two decades was a lot like having a Led Zeppelin ticket back in the day.

They weren't worth the paper they were printed on.

  • I'm sooo holding Scott Mervis responsible if he cancels Pittsburgh again!

  • Reality check: Morrissey is not going to cancel a show sold out for weeks because an article printed days before the show in the entertainment section of one of that city's daily newspapers begs him not to cancel. Sadly, Scott accurately reported the attitude of Pittsburgh's print and radio music intelligensia (such as it is), which is that Morrissey personally slighted them for not performing two scheduled shows here 18 and 9 years ago (!) and that he is never to be forgiven for these sins.

Morrissey's true fans here -- the ones who bought tickets to Tuesday night's show and who contribute positively to this website -- have no worries after Durham.

I just wish I knew why he chose us to end OTSIR with ...

  • I know nothing about the city. Wasn't Andy Warhol originally from Pittsburgh?
