  • Realise your foolish mistake and immediately rush back in, select your cd of choice, and listen to the songs that saved your life!

  • I rather like this and the archive film splicing involved. It's half-serious, half-self-deprecating. Even the Morrissey comment could be suspected of being a joke, as many of his songs encourage listeners to 'go outside' and taste life's possibilities - Sheila Take a Bow, All the Lazy Dykes, Ask, There is a Light...

  • Of course, they're right.

Morrissey tends to encourage social awkwardness as a kind of aesthetic to younger, more socially naive fans.

He justifies the shut-in mentality, and even once added (certainly not anymore) an element of cool to being a Morrissey "follower." For people without defined personalities, this suddenly imbued them with a sense of uniqueness, and it didn't require a massive restructuring of their personality. Actually, it did the exact opposite. It glorified the most self-indulgent aspects of the adolescent mind.

I blame it on the cult mentality that Morrissey often inspires, and the need by many who live in a vacuum to find an identity via a sub-culture.

Many fans who do this are probably not even aware of it. They mimic traits that they think would be deemed attractive to Morrissey if they somehow struck up a friendship with him in an alternate dimension.

Yes, Morrissey fans are that ridiculous.

    • Well Mr reformed Morrissey fan, You’ve hit the nail on the head their sonny, oh yes everything I do is to appease the almighty Morrissey even though he cant see me you idiot. I often find that morrissey is a love him or hate him thing and I generally find the people that dont seem to get it are mindless, dull and predictable. The Moz articulates so well the frustrations of this world and is never too far away from questioning darker matters. You dont get that in any other music i think thats why he's so appealing to people who in the first place feel out of place in this world. He doesnt inspire the shut in mentality he just reconciles it with the fans, thankyougoodnight
