Update: 12/14 15:28 GMT:

This is a likely hoax. I just checked the IP address and it matches one used by "Viva Hate, OBGYN" who has trolled in the past (screenshot). The same account in the comments has boldly claims this is a hoax.

The site relies on user submissions and with the open comment system hoaxes are usually quickly found out. Sorry this user has chosen to waste everyone's time.

  • ...having Alain and Steve Lillywhite involved adds a patina of legitimacy to the effort, in that people associated with the original album are involved. On the other, would it have been too much to ask for at least Kit and I Know Who I Love? Or, alternately, the six very fine B-sides?

    Another misfire, alas.

  • I love how they make such a big deal out of "The project" being "overseen" by Alain Whyte and Steve Lillywhyte.

All they're doing is releasing the exact same album with some different pictures slapped on.

Oh, what a huge "project". It needed a lot of "oversight" from Steve Lillywhyte and Alain Whyte.

And, anyway, I thought it was Morrissey who was supposed to oversee the album art.

If all this "oversight" of this massive "project" of re-releasing an album with a few different pics slapped on also involves remastering (which isn't mentioned here) - why was remastering necessary? The original CD sounds good to me.

  • No thanks, and no way! New cover art, which improves nothing. Morrissey presents: "The Wall, Matrix-style." No good B-sides, no unreleased stuff. I usually don't gripe, but this would only be useful for people who have never heard the original release. "Lost", "I Can Have Both", "Now I Am A Was" "Heir Apparent" - what a missed opportunity.

You know, the remaining CD stores sure would like some QUALITY product to flog. Christmas 2008 should be the final nail in the physical CD stores' coffin.

  • If you do a Google search, the Wikipedia entry for Maladjusted shows that same artwork and states that the track listing will be the same as the original, but it references the announcement from True To You. As you can see, if you review that tidbit from 10/30, there is NO MENTION of a track listing (expanded or otherwise).

I have to wonder if this is someone taking that data - which could obviously be erroneous or pure supposition - and adding the detail about Lillywhite and Alain. That part would probably be relatively quick to debunk for those who send Alain e-mails on his myspace site.

Something seems fishy about this, as what would be any real enticement for a die-hard to purchase this album w/out at least the inclusion of some of the B-sides?

If the source is reading this, it would be helpful if you chimed in and cited your source(s). If not, I think it could easily be classified as potentially another wind-up.

  • It's not the repackaging of the LP that should come as a surprise - I mean, come one, we all know that this is what Morrissey does. (Even so, the 'Maladjusted' re-release DOES appear to be a bit of a have...)

No, what's more surprising is that Morrissey has approved a photo of himself without his trademark quiff to appear on the cover of a major re-release.

It's really a question of style.

  • "The album features new sleeve artwork by Anthony Lui, including previously unseen photographs by Linder Sterling."

Shots from this photo session, including the cover shot, can be seen at The Harsh Truth Of The Camera Eye at motorcycleaupairboy. So they're not at all unseen, maybe just not widely seen.

If appearance is one of the factors by which this re-release is to be judged - and it certainly isn't to be judged by its tracklisting! - then this release seems even more desperate.

    Food for thought.

  • I rather liked the green on silver. As for the picture of Morrissey on the front - when I listen to an album, what's on the front cover isn't all that important, although I do think that the covers of Bona Drag, Kill Uncle and the re-issued Viva Hate are all vile. He hasn't really got cover art right post-Smiths, with the odd esception.

I can't see the point of re-releasing Maladjusted without the b-sides.

    Lazy, crass, pointless commercialism.

Alain Whyte was not involved in the "re-mastering" of this, that I know for sure...and I doubt Steve Lillywhite was either. This is also probably not the cover for the re-release.

This re-release is a U.K. release. If the U.K. record company didn't want to include "Sorrow Will Come In The End" 10 years ago on the CD for fear of libel then why would they release it now?

I can definitely say this is a hoax. Though, I doubt any extra tracks will be on the actual release anyway seeing as True-To-You didn't state as much for 'Maladjusted' but they did for 'Southpaw Grammar'.

The truth is, I would take this site over the "official" site any day. Sure, sometimes things don't always pan out the way we want them to but at least David tries. Look...he retracts this as a hoax...all taken care of...get over your issues. If you don't want to visit this site, then don't...simple as that. I hope David doesn't feel bad about this because as I said before...shit happens...and so we move on to probably the next crazy thing Morrissey really does...
