Just to let you know that the Morrissey single All You Need Is Me has been cancelled by the record company, sorry for the inconvenience caused, apparently the record company decided to cancel it as the new album will be released sooner than expected!!!?

  • Seems amazing to have a single a week away from release, and then cancel it. There's something up behind the scenes we're not being told here!

  • Why would a record company not release a single: Some guesses: -Lack of interest based on consumer response (I don't think this can be it, it would sell better than many singles that are released) -Financial problems for the record company (I doubt it is this - they just put out a number of other releases) -Complaints by the artist (I think this may be it - we know Morrissey is a pain in the ass, maybe he stopped the release) Who knows - but the truth will set us free

  • Rather than focus on the negative, let's hone in on the comment about the album coming out sooner than expected and hope it's true.

I assume this close to the date of AYNIM's release that everything has been pressed, printed and packaged. Is there any reason the single can't be held back as the first off the new album after it comes out? All they'd have to do is produce a sticker that mentions the album title and slap it on the various formats.

A little disappointed I won't hear those b-sides for a while, but I can wait.

  • just checked ebay: no radio promos or slipped out disks; only 3 pre-orders. it looks like the only evidence of these disks are the cover images & tracklists. children in pieces is still not listed on warner-chappell or bmi.

I went the the record shop about 4 weeks in a row before it was finally released.

Could you perhaps apply the same principles to the stuff that really matters for once? The music?

"we have heard that it's been delayed a week. and we've heard that it's been cancelled. it seems hard to believe that it's cancelled since we've received cover artwork, pricing, and track listing, but it is looking for and more like it is cancelled or delayed for a long time. we will notify you when we know for sure"

The item I have on order is the

Turntables and vinyls are past stuff....

  • The official Morrissey MySpace still lists the single for sale, and my recordstore.co.uk order still contains the three-format bundle I pre-ordered with no mention of any change. I have an e-mail in to them to see if they have any info on it.

  • This single package would have been the biggest rip off in Morrissey's history anyway. The b-sides will surface one way or another...we all know that.

Even if we have to wait til the first single from the new LP to hear these songs, does it really matter? Are these songs going to REALLY be anything we haven't heard before? No. It's been 25 years...the man has said everything he is ever going to say. Yes, he sometimes still says it very interestingly; but we are past, I think, the earth-shattering days.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they will be good songs. But c'mon, people...relax. All this cancellation means is that we don't have to buy the same single 18 times to hear all the new songs that could be on ONE release, if he -oh, sorry, I mean "He" - wanted them to be.

So now the single is cancelled, and see all the little ants scurry.

    Wah-wah.

  • With the comment about the new album being done soon and the supposed high quality of the b-sides...

Don't you think that Moz decided to put these new songs on the new album instead and not "waste" them as B-sides? It seems to me that that is pretty obviously what is going on here.

    Anyone???

The Vinyl-Singles are available from 2 American Online-Shops. One of them says that the Vinyl-Singles are second-hand (sic).
