A radio documentary called "A Taste of Honey" is being broadcast by BBC R4 at 11.30 am next Thursday 22nd May. It celebrates the 50th anniversary of this kitchen-sink drama's first performance which was a controversial event.

Shelagh Delaney, the then 19-year-old author of this play, was not only a big influence on Morrissey's early work but also impacted on many other artists.

  • Thanks, goinghome. A fitting day for the tribute :)

I've had trouble getting BBC radio on the internet (me & my two left thumbs!), but will try again.

    Cheers.

  • Gleaned from BBC's 'QI' last night: It appears that Labour Member of Parliament Hazel Blears appeared in the film version "A Taste of Honey" when aged 5.

Quite a lot of people know that.
