Vauxhall better than Strangeways?! The MOJO website blog ruminates on Morrissey solo vs. The Smiths.

But what about Southpaw and Maladjusted?

  • well i can answer that easy. Yes Vauxhall is better than Strangeways. In fact (although i always get shot down in flames for suggesting it) but it's actually better than The Queen Is Dead as well. Ok i'm ready for the attacks...But secretly you know i'm right.Yes i am, i really am.

  • Meat is murder is probably the weakest of Smiths albums on the whole.
    Strangeways is a gem.
Vauxhall is out of this world.
    Quarry was mind-blowing.
ROTT very good, but crap production (Visconti failed). I think Mozza wanted Visconti because of the Bolan & Bowie connection but it sounds muddled.

  • ... is beautiful and Ecclestone is right to lament that Morrissey didn't pursue the path it could have set him on - torch Morrissey with piano, strings, acoustic guitar .... sigh.

Could still happen, but not with this blustering band.
