I have just received the single That's How People Grow Up from recordstore.co.uk 2 days ahead of release. Here is the artwork for the 7" vinyl, the photograph was taken by Jake Walters.

  • Spooky!

There is a similar looking photo of Swallowneck himself in white jockey shorts hung up in a gaudy frame in his bathroom.

When I have to use "The Big Boy's Room" (as it says on the door) I have to admit it almost puts me off taking a tinkle!!!

  • It's interesting that basically *all* the promo images for this release have been photos at least 12 or 13 years old. All the single images seem to be from "The Jake years". Whilst the images have all been well chose and uniformly excellent, you can't help wonder at the cynicism of the record company people, trying to sell the punters a younger Morrissey. (Particularly ironic, given that, bar a couple of songs, almost all the material on this new 'Greatest Hits' comes from the post-comeback years.)

On a side note, anyone know any online store which is selling downloads of the vinyl-only b-sides? I've ordered the 7" singles, but vinyl isn't so practical and I'd like to be able to put the b-sides on my iPod.

  • Can anybody help me out with the tattoo issue? I didn't think Moz had any tats, and I've never seen any when he takes his shirt off at shows. Does he sport fake tats in promo pictures? On the Rhino Morrissey Greatest Hits, there is also a pic of Moz with a tattoo ( I think its on his arm this time) and I have been wondering if they were real ever since. I'm assuming they are all fake, but I would love to know otherwise. Anybody got any ideas?

  • Honey. It's from the same hotel-bathroom "session" that produced the gatefold photo from the 12-inch version of "Hold on to Your Friends." I'm sure almost everyone knows that, but there were a few people in the forum that didn't.

Also, to re-answer the question, Jake Walters is an ex-boxer and how semi-well known photographer out of England. He was Moz's bodyguard/assistant during the Vauxuall years. He's also rumored to be the subject of the song "Sunny" and "Best Friend on the Payroll."

  • Both 7" singles are beautiful: Really nice thick covers with printed inner-sleeves. And the DECCA logo on the actual record is such a classic! They really are worth getting. Why do people moan about the "old" photos? They are classic Mozza. Great design. BUY THEM!
Got them in Edinburgh this morning.
