  • Shit, this was almost a historical Morrissey event - 6 nights at the Legendary London Roundhouse. But if your voice goes, it goes! He has such a vocal range these days and he was clearly not able to hit the high notes on Mon, Tue & Wed. On Wed he kept using the throat numbing spray and managed to carry the show off Brilliantly. Get well Morrissey! No hard feelings.

Honestly, it doesn't take my grandfather three months to recover from a throat infection. And what's with not having the decency to tell the fans yourself? Sending out three morons -- Brand, Ross, and Walliams -- on stage to inform your fans.

  • Quick question. I was one of those unfortunate souls who was there at the Roundhouse last night and was wondering if there will be a refund/rescheduling for those with Friday night tickets? I understand, obviously, that tonight (Saturday) and Sunday will be rescheduled or refunded, but my question is will those who suffered last night have the same opportunity?

  • Morrissey's concerts scheduled for tonight and tomorrow night at The Roundhouse have been postponed due to illness. The iconic artist lost his voice last night four songs in to the fourth night of a run of six sold out shows at the legendary venue. He has been ordered by doctors to rest for the next four days. The sold out UK tour is scheduled to continue in Doncaster on Wednesday night. All ticket holders to the Roundhouse dates should retain their tickets and an announcement will be made this week.

All ticket holders will be contacted directly where possible.

Information regarding rescheduling or refunding will be carried on www.gigsandtours.com as soon as available.

  • I turned up at the Roundhouse at half 7 this morning, having travelled from Manchester throughout the night, only to find out about yesterday. I could only afford to go to one gig and this was the one I picked, thinking it would be the best of the week - not to mention that accommodation and travel cost me over £100. Even if they refund my ticket, I doubt I'll be able to afford the accommodation for any rescheduled dates. Such a disappointment.

    Nevertheless, get well soon Morrissey.

it's strange...i used to love moz...i'm not one for turning on my heroes, but he's become such a smug ass over the last 6 or 7 years...he hid it better in the past, or he wasn't such an ass, but since that "importance of being morrissey" documentary it's been crystal clear to me that moz is really caught up in his own image, believes the hype, and seems to sneer at the rest of humanity. unless you have "nice teeth" or something.

This greatest hits tour was not necesarily, he
    toured ROTT too long

Morrissey should've ended past summer, rest and
fully concentrating on releasing a new album for
late this year, or even early 2009

but I guess a new deal was the problem, he had to tour to get publicity , and a new deal

and now what have we now?

A stressed Morrissey who isn't able to perform,
and more frightening, another average album, with
easy lyrics though the 3 he threw in last weeks
    were quite promising

Morrissey is clearly between a rock and hard place: A choice between commercial record company success or more alternative stuff (which the fans like, but record company doesnt). At the same time we cannot have another ROTT - which was OK but a bit mediocre. Morrissey is capable of much much much more!

I am human and I need to be loved, just like everybody else does.
  • I don’t understand the venom about this situation. Mon and Tues were great and Weds was an amazing performance. I was ill myself and only left my hotel for the gigs.

Come Friday night, having got over my own cold/flu/throat problems, I was in a great mood. And even with Morrissey being unable to perform: It was London! Friday night/Saturday morning in one of the most exciting cities in the world. I had a great time. And got comprehensively trashed in the process, Back home now reflecting on events…….

It’s truly sad for visitors from the States, Europe etc, who probably won’t have the time or resources for re-scheduled gigs.
As for us Brits -get a grip! Spirit of The Blitz and so on. You can get a cheap bus from anywhere to London for buttons and just tough it out in some hostel for the re-scheduled dates. Or give up your tickets for a refund and let someone else enjoy the shows. Enough with the moaning.

I’m concerned Morrissey may be doing permanent damage to his voice, and end up needing an op to remove nodules like so many others.
I was watching him intently on Wednesday and he was really risking it for the sake of one show. But that’s what he’s like when he’s on form, he just gets carried away. He sings from the heart and, I guess, is pretty averse to any vocal training regime: But he may be heading for a crisis, if he’s not already in one.

As well as a doctor, I hope he’s seeing a vocal specialist over the next few days. Much as I’d love to see the shows in Doncaster, Sunderland and E’bro:
There’s a huge difference between failing to hit notes because of a bacterial/viral infection and failing to do so because you’re in the process of permanently damaging your vocal chords.

I suspect he may well have to stop singing for more than 4 days. Hopefully I’m wrong, and it is just cold/flu symptoms, but I’d rather he kept that instrument going for the next 10 years, even if it’s a no-show situation next week.

He was in a really great mood at all 3 shows. Well, he was until some idiot threw a pint at him on Friday night…. Thanks to all for the great reviews, I was out of it on Night-Nurse, hope to post from The North and Scotland. Fingers crossed!

PS: Just rang SeeTickets and we can all snip off these purple wristbands! Just keep it in a safe place is what I’ve been told.

  • Just got back to Manchester after the cancelled show. I know this is just speculation until it's announced, but how soon are postponed shows usually re-scheduled for? Do they usually re-arrange them for the same days of the week (ie a Saturday show re-scheduled for another Saturday or just whenever?) I don't know what to hope for as I'll need a bit of warning if I've got to make travel arrangements, new hotel bookings and time off work but the weekend of the 22nd - 24th February is the one weekend I definitely can't make so I'm praying it's not that weekend. If I can't make it, it'll be the first UK Moz tour I've missed for 15 years :-(

Unlike some others, I am not going to rail against Morrissey. If you're ill, you're ill. I've seen him in concert many times over the last 20 years - each one being a unique experience. I was so looking forward to hearing the new songs and one of my personal favourites - Death of a Disco Dancer.
I'm not going to bin my collection or refuse to go to another concert. I'll be out buying the new single and album and looking forward to the next time I see the man live and I can't wait. Morrissey has been with me through so many good and bad times, why would I give up now???

CANCELED SHOWS YET AGAIN. Luckily that time I was in LA long enough to get tickets for another date, but cmon show your fans some fucking respect, Moz.

It's his own fault for doing so many concerts in a row. I mean is it really necessary to do SIX DAYS!?! Pretty much all in a row?! Jesus christ, spread them out a little bit or something?! You're not a young man any more Morrissey...obviously you're going to get knackered and sick (if indeed you are really sick)

  • To see and hear Morrissey live was my husbands greatest wish and I just had to get tickets for this event. Had such a hard time getting tickets, that I ended up paying £95 each. All in all cause we come from Italy this concert costed me £600 and I have just found out that I have misunderstood the terms concerning refunds of our ticket and I will only get £35 back per ticket. So this really is upsetting.

If it is true as somebody else writes that he has been strugling with his voice for a long time...he should have waited and shown some concern for his fans!!!! And those people getting on stage to tell that the concert was cancelled were disgrace. There was not one "we are sorry" At least somebody could have apoligized...is that too much to ask???

One seems to be the more well-balanced fan who is justifiably disappointed and gutted that they've wasted a lot of money, and a potentially great Friday night was ruined. They also seem to be having their patience and sympathy stretched with Mr Moz, who seems increasingly to be 'lost in showbiz'

Then there is the 'Morrissey Fundamentalist' type who scream abuse at the unholy unbelievers; the kind who are disgusted with people ruining their ascetic communion by drinking and shouting. The latter type proudly proclaim they would gladly spend £100s on a few minutes of Morrissey; the kind of fan who would pay to see Morrissey pick his nose on stage for 5 minutes, or take a shit in a tin bucket.

    Eurythmics - Julia Lyrics

    When the leaves
    Turn from green to brown
    And autumn shades
    Come tumbling down
To leave a carpet on the ground
    Where we have laid

    When winter leaves her branches
    bare
And icy breezes chill the air
    The freezing snow lies everywhere
    My darling
    Will we still be there?

    Julia

    When spring rejoices
    Down the lane
    And everything is new again
    Will everything be
    Just the same
    Will we be there?

    Oh Julia
