Retard moments: "Do you think if everybody was vegetarian, we would live in a better world?" No, dude. The more animal blood we shed, the more monkey brains and cow tongues we eat, the closer to Paradise we get. (However, it was kind and Morrissey felt touched by the connection between kindness and vegetarianism even if the connection was made in form of a silly question.
Enlightening moments: I thought Morrissey's thought on politics versus artists was compelling. Politics, he said, rule only through violence - since no politician is genuinely nice (and all you need to do is look around to confirm). It might seem to some an overly simplified statement, but I, for instance, don't see many Ghandis around. The last one got assassinated, just like Luther King. Another "simplistic" idea is that artists are the ones that help save something in the world, and are powerful (aka political)voices on stage, and that's why they are constantly under surveillance. Not simplistic at all. Just like Morrissey, John Lennon - another singer who I deeply admired, because he was such a "bigmouth" like Moz - got also in trouble with the FBI, for he was always criticising Nixon, and many years ago, I watched a very interesting and heated argument between Lennon and a record producer. Many may think I am crazy, but I see many points in common between Lennon and Morrissey, with the exception that Lennon probably did a lot more talking, and Moz say less, but hits interviewers with very clear and essential thoughts. And why not make the Nixon-Bush connexion? Bush is a non-impeached version of Nixon, and this is so obvious by now. He sent American soldiers out there, to die, to become mangled or insane, with the purpose of disarming and degrading Vietnam,in order to politically and economically control it, and the very same is being done (has been done) to Afghanistan and Irak.
