Last week's NME (18/8/2007) had an interview with Iggy Pop:

Q: One musician who I really admire is...

A: Morrissey. I like that mystic marriage he has with the Mexican Mestizo population. I think the Mexicans like him because they maybe feel like outsiders and can relate to his lyrics. Plus Mexicans can grow a good quiff - they have good quiffability. But it just goes to show that when you leave the band you're in to make solo records, a lot of the time people don't care about those solo records. But if you do something that's good, somebody will pick up on it, some unlikely group. All you need to do is make work that's of a high quality. Which unlikely group has picked up on my music? The cruise ship companies that are using my music on their commercials at the moment! God bless them.
