THE GUARDIAN Website reports:

"It takes a special kind of insight to see that Morrissey, the famously morose former frontman of the Smiths, is at heart a tango musician. But Argentine composer and producer Gustavo Santaolalla, who is bringing his group Bajofondo Tango Club to Britain this week, asked Morrissey to sing on a track for the eight-piece band's forthcoming album. Morrissey, he says, has got that "cosmic tango vibe".

And no, I'm not making this up!

  • Well, Santaolalla is a very succesful Argentinean rock/pop producer based in LA, but not everything he touches turns into gold... Let's hope the outcome comes out with some quality and not another Morrissey + Siouxsie fiasco or something as tacky as Morrissey singing in awfully pronounced Spanish.

Thirty? I didn't think you'd make it to Thursday!
  • If this cosmic tango vibe turns into actual music it should be quite interesting. Many South American bands thrive on mixing different, foreign sounds, and put their own vibe into it, so if Moz should do the same he would be doing something very nicely unusual in the saxon pop music scene. I think he has already done some of his cosmic (or, rather, cosmopolitan) vibe with his first song from the ROTT album and a song called Good Looking Man About Town (which has no doubt a sizzling oriental vibe to it).

  • Whilst I have been battling with joyless trolls and hapless bigots on this very forum this afternoon, poor old Swallowneck has reaped the rewards of not bathing it would appear...

His little green pills may cleanse from within, but that has not stopped a boil the size of a golf ball from appearing on his left buttock! Swallowneck had to go to see his GP to have it lanced this afternoon, which was rather embarrassing for him. When the small incision was made into the festering boil, the red hot yellowy-green matter within spurted all over the doctor's face.

Imagine the loss of dignity - Swallowneck on his side with his bare butt exposed as the boil was being drained and the GP wiping smelly pus from his face and hair!!!

So think on before you diss the Cult Of Swallowneck...

  • It'd be the kind of step that Morrissey needs to take to regain some creativity. Even if it didn't work, it would still be different from the mid-tempo rock he's been doing for so long.
