  • I visited that record shop a few times in the past and the place was great but I think they found me a bit snobby cause I bought so much like some well off spoilt rich kid or something.
Last time I was there I shouted abuse at the scumbags running the porn places around the block and that was funny!

  • for this Smiths album is going to be 20 years old soon. It is black, scratch-free, its cover is nearly intact, and it was made in Brazil. Most of all, I don't even remember how or where I got it. You can't beat that kind of relic! ;)

  • It's one thing to sell bootlegs of gigs, but to blatently make bootlegs of the albums and advertise them publicly seems a bit much.

  • How many people buy vinyl these days? or rather: How many people buy vinyl these days to listen to? I'm sure these are nice and maybe even collectable objects but that's as far as it goes. These are for die-hard Smiths collectors only. Who has released them? Warners? 19 quid is a lot of money for a piece of plastic.

I've got them, they def aint warners or rough trade although they do have the RT cat numbers on them (the Smiths pic discs). I bought them & a 12" Moz Sanctuary release at the same time & the Moz one weighs about the same as both Smiths together.
They are for collectors yes, but wern't all pic discs designed for that market anyway regardless of being official? I haven't played the pic discs but I have played a couple of the coloured vinyl debut l.p.'s.

  • I found a mint copy of the 1st album in a local charity shop. 50 pence it cost me. There were also loads of Morrissey 12" singles - some of them badly scratched - for 10p each! I bought the lot, even just for the sleeves. Lucky day.

Popped into Sister Ray this weekend and I saw they still have the Queen is Dead picture discs and coloured Smiths releases. Now they've also got a Meat is Murder version with the image from the cover put onto white vinyl, I thought they looked pretty cheap to be honest so I didn't invest in any for myself, however I did grab a copy of the 12" IJWTSTBH picture disk which is very nice indeed.
