Ryan McGinley talks about his photographs of Morrissey concerts with Ana Finel Honigman - The Sattchi Gallery blog

For the past two years, Ryan McGinley has traveled throughout the US, UK, France and Mexico attending Morrissey concerts and photographing every conceivable aspect and angle of the performances. We walked through McGinley's exhibition 'Irregular Regulars' at New York's TEAM gallery (until 10 February) and discussed the individual stories behind each of the 20 images he culled from the thousands he took.

  • How many links from this nonentity's publicist are you going to make into main page stories?

I do hesitate to make this post. Because otherwise the item would fade into the archives with a pristine zero comments.

  • Does every Morrissey fan have a fetish for Moz pictures? I collect mine in print, in my hardware. It is just a pleasure living on its own breath, asides from the music. The great discovery that Mc Guinley made visible to me was that Morrissey's fans are just as photogenic and telling images as Morrissey himself. In a video, you have these flashes of movements from Moz and fans that only last a split of a second, but in a picture, you can contemplate the frozen moment, and movement. Picture archiving of Morrissey's images is the second best thing I enjoy doing after the songs. There's always a good pick on my computer's desktop background. I hope I can find Mc Guinley's work available on amazon.com soon...

  • It's just sad that Ryan allowed his work to be represented by those cunts at Team Gallery.
