Just a reminder that from today through until Sunday the 18th is the download ‘Life Is A Pigsty’ into the charts week

If you're not familiar with the available download sites then you can visit the ‘where to download’ section on the http://www.getmozinthecharts.vze.com/ website, where you will find a list of download sites.

NON-UK FANS can also find options in the ‘where to download’ section on how you can take part.

Also I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped and shown support for this experiment, especially robertzombie who created and set up the website. Your efforts are very much appreciated.

I’ve said this a number of times, but for this to work we need everyone to get involved so please download ‘Life Is A Pigsty’ and let’s show Radio 1 what real music sounds like.

Together we can make this happen.

Thank you

  • Why not, as a further offensive, phone up Radio stations and request the song be played....to make the song known to the casual listener. Maybe it could garner a few extra downloads...it can't do any harm surely.

I'm pretty sure that Jo Whiley, Zane Lowe, Mark Radcliffe, Stuart Maconie, Marc Riley, Phil Jupitus, Shaun Keaveny, Steve Lamacq....even Steve Wright, would play the song, especially if they caught wind of the campaign. He still has a lot of admirers in Radioland.

    Just a suggestion.

So all downloads on Mon 12, Tues 13 will go on one week's chart and the rest will go on the following week.

It was the wrong song for a start. Songs get downloaded because of airplay on the whole, and no radio show is going to play a 7 and a half minute song, especially if Morrissey sings on it. Face facts, Pigsty is strictly one for the fans. It won't capture the publics imaginations.

Morrissey when choosing the songs to put out as singles, chooses short ones "verse, chorus. middle eight, break, fade". This forum chose to ignore this, and mount a semi-monumental failure (as widely predicted) on his behalf. He won't thank you for this.

Also it appears that download chart rules have not been researched.

  • Well, it doesn't have one. It's nowhere to be found in the top 200. I understand it's cropped up on some downloads charts, but on the official chart it's simply not made any kind of a dent.

To get into the top 40 at the moment you need upwards of 2000 sales (it was apparently 3200 last week). It must be way, way short of that if it's not even registering in the top 200. Sorry guys.

As a sidenote, I was unfortunate enough to catch the charts on Radio 1 a couple of weeks ago, and they gloss over many of the tracks anyway. There was some dance track in or around the top 10 that they only played up to the first chorus before moving onto the next position.

  • Can this be the last we hear of these daft ideas.

Morrissey doesn't need our charity. It's not as if he hasn't had a hit in years. He's just had four top twenty records.

Having said that, can we now get down to the serious business of getting The Quo's "Margherita Time" back to the top of the pops.
