My friend and I snuck back stage during sound check at the Moz show last night. We found a door on the right balcony that was open so we walked in. We sat an listened while both acts warmed up.

It was still early, and we knew we needed to make a move. So we walked down stairs with confidence; acting like we were supposed to be there. We got to the lobby smiled to the women in the yellow coat and said "hello" as she open the door for us to walk in to the orchestra section. It think her guard was down because we were wearing PRIEST COSTUMES!!

We wandered around and found an empty dressing room. On our way we actually saw Morrissey! He was tacking up Kristen Young's dressing room sign. My friend asked if he could introduce himself and he said "no" and then he walked away. We followed him for a bit, but then retreated to our home base (the empty dressing room) and regrouped.

We remained back stage while Kristen Young was performing. We were able to walk accross the stage behind the back drop and get to Morrissey's dressing room. It had several record covers with various pictures (there were several of Rip Taylor). I timidly knocked and no one answered. The guards looked at us, but we quickly left before they could throw us out. We headed back to the dressing room with our hearts racing.

We thought we would try to see him between the two sets. So we waited and pounced, but our time was up. We were asked for our passes when we were standing at his door for the second time. We hesitated and then they grabbed us by the back of our costumes and forcefully sent us out.

The cops were pretty aggressive. And, I am not kidding, one of the cops told us they had to be aggressive because "Well, after 9/11 you have to be cautious." They walked us through the Sheraton lobby to the other side of the street and told us not to come back or we would be arrested for trespassing. So exciting, so disappointing, and so expensive (since we couldn't see the show our Ebay purchased pit tickets went to waste).

We missed the show, but it sounds like he played the exact show as Thursday. I think the adventure made up for our loss.

So an anonymous person claiming that they got backstage at the gig and implying Morrissey was rude (. My friend asked if he could introduce himself and he said "no" and then he walked away.) is somehow news? For someone who is obviously a huge fan, the gentleman who runs this site seems very happy to post 'news' that makes Morrissey appear to be a prick..... even though ANYBODY could have written this. I'm in Blackpool and I coould have claimed to sneak into this gig. I'm sure Morrissey can be a stuck up prick, who isn't sometimes, but where's the proof this even happened. For a Morrissey fan site, there is always so much negative crap on here. Of course, there's gonna be loads of posts after this saying my opinion is sycophantic, and I'll probably be moderated negatively for insulting the site's owner. The fact is though, I'm right.

  • You should've gone to the concert anyway. Do you really think security or the cops would've remembered you? As long as you removed your priest costumes, you probably would've been fine. And if you didn't want to risk it, you should've found someone to give your pit tickets to. That would've been the good karma thing, right?

Anyway, you have an interesting story to tell now I guess.

  • So Morrissey is responsible for putting up the signs on everyone's dressing rooms is he?

David, there are some really stupid Morrissey fans about. You really should have pointed out this story is fiction for their benefit.

  • how the FUCK did this get on....it's the same shit every tour. so and so meets morrissey back stage, morrissey is a dick. And yeah, to make this story more dramatic, the backstage invaders also had very expensive ebay pit seats (of all seats, they were elusive pit seats) that went to waste. Oh!! and they were in priest costumes!!

fuck davidt. fuck you for allowing this to go up.

  • It doesn't matter if you don't get into the venue to see the actual show as there is always the chance to chat with other luckless "Moz Nuts" outside the venue who have also coughed up big bucks to travel 1000's of miles to be content with simply making do with a slight whiff of Panic wafting from the toilet windows above... Swallowneck has done this in Birmingham and he truly enjoyed it!

  • Yes! I snuck in too! But I was dressed like The Pope! Yes! The last dead one! I hunched over! Nobody stopped me! I walked onstage during the soundcheck! I played tamborine! I asked Morrissey if he had anything to confess! He said "no" and walked away! I was going to ask him to kiss my ring, but he was ordering pizza for Boz! Then the police came! I blessed them! It was great!! Pax Vobiscum, Moz!!

  • Even assuming this story is true, being turned down by Morrissey before his set does not make him look bad. The man was getting ready to go onstage to perform in front of thousands of people. The last thing he needs is to be bothered. If these two really were backstage, Morrissey surely would have thought they were not going anywhere; they just caught him at a bad time.

I play in a band that regularly performs in front of 300-500 people and I'm sure I've come across as a jerk to a few people right before a show. I can only imagine that, times 100. Yes, he's a pro, but he needs his space and time to prepare too.

  • You must suffer and cry for a longer time.

    lol

    Try this.

1.If you really want to meet Morrissey, you had to be more clever.

2.And if you wanted to see him live in concert and be the first in the railing, you had to stay overnight.

    (Lets say)
3.You dont have any tickets for the three shows. at all, just STRECH OUT AND WAIT. Hang around for three days and you might even get lucky (MIGHT)
hang around the venue, might get lucky.

  • and if you are right in front of him. just tell him you adore him and his music, dont waste your time introducing yourself.

or worst asking if you may Introduce yourself.
    next time.

Your name only matters, if he asks you.
