The week starting Monday the 12th to Sunday the 18th of February has been chosen to download ‘Life is a Pigsty’ in to the charts.

If you have already signed up to the http://www.getmozinthecharts.vze.com/ website then you will receive an e-mail confirming this date. If you haven’t signed up already please do so in order to receive updates.

For a list of available download sites see the ‘where to download’ section on the http://www.getmozinthecharts.vze.com/ website.

The lowest priced site appears to be itunes, 79p per song. But of course feel free to download ‘Pigsty’ as many times as you wish.

Itunes cards are also available from various stores. These allow you too download up to £15 or £25 worth of music from itunes.

Non-UK Downloads

It would be great help if non UK fans could take part. There’s a website called http://bleep.com/ which apparently doesn’t ask for a shipping address, but there’s been no evidence that this website works. So if anyone knows of any other download sited please let us know.

Or alternatively someone suggested that it’s possible to transfer money to a UK based fan using paypal and ask them to download the song for you.

For this campaign to work we need everyone to get involved so please do all you can to spread the word.

Thank you

There seems to be TWO versions of 'Life is a pigsty' on itunes one that lasts 7.22 and one that lasts 7.24

Does anyone know if it makes any difference which one we download?

  • what a waste of time and money this is. The song is awful, the only people that will buy it are die hards and it will be lucky to scrape anywhere near the top 100.
I predict 1000 sales if that.

There is a better world. Well, there must be.
  • As well as the mild rejection of the cult of Swallowneck on this MB from certain spoilsports, Swallowneck is also mightily pissed off that his dream of seeing I'll Never Be Anybody's Hero Now at number one has been cast aside like a used condom and has therefore said that he will not get involved in this "scam"!!!

    Ah well...

  • I don't want to insult any of you who are involved in this, but please stop it. it just won't work. you're only going to get about 500 downloads from a few maniacal, obsessive fans. and if the music or main press pick up on this story you are going to give us all a bad name - "sad, little depressed bedroom dwellers sitting listening to morrissey and downloading a song they already own off his latest album".

and why this song?! it plays right into the hands of the already biased, anti-morrissey press. pigsty is not a radio song - an if it ever does get played it will be a horribly edited 3 minute version.

stop and think about ti objectively for a few minutes. it won't work - just stop now.

best of luck. if i'm wrong, i will apologise.

  • The Uk singles charts are already meaningless enough without people artificially making them more meaningless.
The whole point of singles is to promote an album (which I'm assuming you all own), to introduce new fans to a particualr artist (but you're fans already) or a way to purchase a track you like without having to spalsh out on an album (see point one)
And don't for a second think that if it charts, radio will pick it up. The connection between chart success & radio play has always, and will always be, a one way street.

  • I sent them an email asking, Do downloads from anywhere in the world from your site count towards UK chart place?

They have not responded. Is there any evidence downloads from this German site contribute towards UK chart places? I suspect not.

  • Isn't the rule that no one person can get more than 5 copies at once? If I recall correctly, that's why Industry by The Modern was disqualified from the charts last April. Too many fans went out and bought the same thing too many times!
