Salford Lad's Club has been nominated as an english icon, as searched for by the British Government via the site icons.org.uk. It's been nominated as "a symbol for the Smiths and the great music of (Greater) Manchester in general".

I have known him for nearly twenty years, and yeah, we may have sat many times on the front porch drinking coffee and bitching about certain swines behind their backs in the morning, but I have never tired of those ol' tales of his teenage hi-jinks in Dewsbury and Heckmondwike - no matter how many times I hears 'em!
