Salford Lad's Club has been nominated as an english icon, as searched for by the British Government via the site icons.org.uk. It's been nominated as "a symbol for the Smiths and the great music of (Greater) Manchester in general".

Other nominations include Abbey Road while the album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" has made it as an icon. So far only 36 percent of online voters think that Salford Lad's Club is an icon.
