I haven't' seen this posted anywhere on the site, so if it has been discussed, my apologies. I came across this on accident in Google.

Apparently a Bank of America Representative decided to do a alternate version of U2's "One" live at a company merger party, coupled with a new set of lyrics. It made its way on to Youtube, and became rather popular.

Comedienne David Cross then asked Johnny Marr (who was appearing with Modest Mouse) to come on stage with him at the Bowery Ballroom, to perform their own spoof of the event.

For those who aren't aware of David Cross, he's an American comedienne who was a star on the critically acclaimed show "Arrested Development," as well as a founding member of the alternative comedy show "Mr. Show."

  • David Cross is hilarious.
I'll be pedantic and mention that "comedienne" means a female comedian.

  • To see my hero Johnny Marr strumming the chords of a U2 track was a chastening experience. I know this is supposed to be satire, but I think someone of Johnnys stature should be above this sort of thing.

  • Not to be a pain in the ass, but 'Comedienne' is for female comics. David cross is a boy, not a girl, so he's a 'comedian.'

I sent this in on the fly, as can be seen by the other typos. Firefox had me change a typo'ed "comedian," to "comedienne," and in my haste, I went with it.

I'm glad that some found it funny. Of course, it seems that the pre-adolescent Johnny Marr heckling continues with every move that he makes. Sad, really. He just isn't precious and pretentious enough to receive mindless adoration.

Anyhow, for those of you who did not live through this catastrophic event, my sincerest condolences to your families.
