I also think it looks like he'll be doing a revised setlist as Moz in arenas??? Well its not Truro/ kings Lynn etc etc etc

Moz was 'bigger' around the time of Quarry, when the arena leg still had a few empty seats (some dates more than others, Earl's Court almost sold out, but Birmingham had large amounts of seats unused).

But I suppose the logic is that it's better to play the big date and not quite sell out, then sell out the smaller dates.

  • To know what the thinking is behind playing tiny venues which were sold out in no time at the time of the album's release but to play much larger venues at a much later date. He could have a had a massive tour with a number 1 album. There are no other 80s artists who have his artistic and commercial stature.

I shall definitely be going to the Birmingham gig.

"Christian Dior" has renewed my faith in Morrissey after ROTT gave it a bit of a battering.

Totally unrelated, but the Johnny Marr biography was almost too bad for words. The worst book I've read all year, and that includes a Dan Brown novel. No insight, no in-depth analysis of his music, no interesting revelations and no literary style. And the usual mistakes, eg, stating that Hand In Glove got to number 25. Also, referring to Kill Uncle as "critically acclaimed" but paying scant heed to Morrissey's other work - why mention his solo stuff? He also rates "Raise the Pressure" and refers to "Boomslang" as "acclaimed".

You'd have to go a long way to find a worse book.

There is no sense of objective criticism at all. For example, Marr bemoaned the appalling concept of the synth duo in the 80s and yet embraced it in the 90s. Surely the greatest criticism of his session work is that much of it is annonymous - his playing simply does not shine on other people's records, and his work with Billy Bragg, Kirsty McColl and Bryan Ferry sounds like Smiths without the magic. Also, it's about bloody time that some writer pointed out the glaring fact that Morrissey received no credit for writing The Smiths sung melodies.

That no one has done so so far is incredible. The credits shoule read: Words - Morrissey, Music - Morrissey/Marr and maybe even Rourke (after all, he composed the bass lines, not Johnny).

Credit where credit is due, apparently not.

It does seem rather odd that he's playing the UK like this again, after such a massive tour in the summer. Yeah, I'm happy, course I am (thought ticket-buying stress is starting to make me feel nauseous already), but whatever happened to St Louis?

but the views of deranged fans (like me) are irrelevant re these gigs. christmas arena tours are aimed at (strange) people who only go to arena gigs and usually at christmas. personally having seen moz many times in venues no larger than the Brighton Centre, there are going to have to be amazing reports from glasgow (of 'teachers' 'tony the pony' 'work is a four-letter word' etc), to make me brave wembley arena - that place is the architectural representation of depression. no surprise that it's london's top entertainment venue!

Although Morrissey has a lot of brilliant songs, when I go to watch him it's not for what he sings, but how he sings. There is something addictive about his vocal delivery, movement and mannerisms. I'm sure so many of you agree. These shows will be great, they're Morrissey shows.
