Next Wednesday 20th September at 12 midnight on RTE2 TV, a conversation between reputable music DJ/presenter Dave Fanning, and Morrissey, is advertised in this Saturday's Irish Times TV listings: -

“'Two Sounds: The Last Broadcast, RTE2', on midnight: As well as music from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primal Scream and Foo Fighters, this week's “Last Broadcast” features live performances from Irish bands Neosupervital and Director, and Dave Fanning is backstage with Maximo Park. The legendary Morrissey also talks about his album “Ringleader of the Tormentors’”.

A word of caution though; music only from Morrissey is promised on the TV website??

  • Fanning is clearly the wrong person to interview Morrissey.

He has been in bed journalistically so to speak with the terrible U2 for the last 30 years. U2 even gave Fanning the exclusive rights to play their tracks before anyone other DJ in the world.

However, stating that , One could imagine mentally that they perhaps could end up licking each others scrotums.

If Fanning was to interview Radiohead, the story would be a lot lot different, you would hear articulations that possibly would beggar belief, if only that day would happen.

  • I thought by Fanning, you meant Dakota. "How delicious that would be!" I thought, but sadly, the truth was far more banal.

    *sigh*

  • Fanning has been chamioning The Smiths amd Moz in Ireland for years. I fear this wont be a long interview buecause the show has a lot of acts on that night. Dave interviewed Moz in 2002 for his radio show for nearly 50mins and it was a fab interview as was the interview he did with Moz in 1987 before the breakup of the smiths. Who would you prefer interview him Zane Lowe (crap) Janice Long(too familiar) Laverne or Bowman please no!!! Fanning always gets the most info out of Moz

  • Dave Fanning does not get the most out of his subjects. I'm not sure what 'it' is but Fanning clearly doesn't have it. I would love to go out on a limb and volunteer my services to Morrissey and ask the thought provoking questions that he cherishes. This is not a joke, I know beauty and I know a good thing when I speak it.
