Radio: The Beatles? We've bigger fish to fry - New Statesman As a companion piece to School of Rock, I suggest Mitch Benn's Crimes Against Music (Radio 4, Tuesdays, 6.30pm). Benn is a comedian who makes up songs that satirise pop stars. For the most recent show, he did a brilliant skit on Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens), singing not "Moonshadow", but "Goonshadow". "They read my mail, they tap my phone,/ They sit in vans outside my home," went the chorus. Also on tour with Mitch is Morrissey. There was a time when I'd have smacked anyone who took the mickey out of Morrissey, but I must be getting old, because when this version of him announced that he'd sacked his band due to the "unworthy" remarks they'd made about Albert Finney's performance in Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, my laughter was shamefully loud.

Peter Crouch (Score:0)
Owen looks off the pace but let's see what he can do with Rooney- these are both proven world-class players. Eriksson's error in not bringing a 5th striker is looking bigger and bigger (are we ever going to see the Theo child?)
With Neville now out and England qualified it gives England a great opportunity to try out 3-5-2. We have 3 great centre backs in Sol, John and Rio. A holding player in midfield (Carrick or even, er, Hargreaves) gives Stevie G and fat Frank the freedom to go forward and attack as they do week-in week-out at their clubs. Little Ashley running the left (with Joe as back-up) with Becks or Lennon on the right.
Rooney and Owen can then do the darting runs and clever, quick passes.
You could argue that with the above, there's only one midfielder who's defensive, and with only three at the back we could be vulnerable. But look at those 3; they're all world class. Moreover, we have to take risks and attack. Sitting back and lumping the ball to Crouch is not going to win plaudits or tournaments.
Come on Sven; England has world-class players. To get world class performances, play them in their natural positions. Take risks at the back to give us a formidable strike force up front.
Come On England!
