Sorry, I can hardly type here, I’m so excited!

True to You has announced this news:

Holland and Ireland tour dates
28 January 2006

Amsterdam Heineken Music Hall (Monday April 10th)
Killarney INEC (Thursday April 13th)
Dublin Olympia (Saturday April 15th and Sunday April 16th)

United Kingdom tour support
28 January 2006

The support on the UK dates will be Sons & Daughters and Tiger Army.
(Might I just add, for those who were enquiring previously, that the new website of Sack, Morrissey’s support band on quite a few shows a couple of years ago, is back online: www.sacktheband.net.)

Yeeeeha! (with luck, ticket-wise)

I presumed The Lowry would be the first date this year, and therefore the most exciting as the setlist unfolds before our ears, but it looks like Amsterdam or another European city. Might have to go to that, wherever it is.

Hope it's Amsterdam, Easyjet from Liverpool £10.50 each way. Nice.

  • The Olympia in Dublin in particular? I'm a Yank and the dates of the two shows there would fit in nicely with my vacation/holidays.

  • Although I'm happy for everyone who has new exciteableness with these new gigs, I can't help but be saddened slightly. I'm going to the Lowry gig, travelling half the country and thought it would be special in so many ways, not least the fact that new material would be played for the first time ever there, but sadly not. It also means, that at any time for 8 DAYS, I will only be a click away from seeing the setlist... Which I want to be surprised by when I'm there. Perhaps disconnect my internet? Take a piece of brain out that tells me that Morrissey sites exist. hmmm.

  • Hopefully this means that a full European tour is in the works, and that there really will be a show in Gothenburg on April 1st - and hopefully in the rest of Scandinavia too, though Vega, where he normally plays when in Denmark, seems quite occupied aroundt those dates.

Typical BTW, that these dates are being published just after the ticket sale in the UK, so that many Europeans have probably felt inclined to buy tickets there as well...

    • For the record, Killarney - culturally, historically and environmentally - rises above most towns in Ireland. I should know: I grew up there where visitors came from all over the world vastly outnumbering the locals during the summertime. The Irish National Events Centre (INEC) is in the Gleneagle Hotel on Muckross Road. Muckross is anglicised Gaelic: Ros na Muic which means ‘boar wood’ or ‘headland of pigs’, while Killarney is anglicised Gaelic: Cill Airne, which means ‘church of the sloes’ – sloes being the berries of the blackthorn bush which apparently makes great jam, and even liqueur! When humans are tranquillised by this liqueur, fairies and leprechauns pluck up courage to venture into open spaces and cavort around the toadstools and shamrocks most enchantingly. Flann O’ Brien captured a few such moments, - and you just might too!!

As the Munster venue for the cities of Cork, Limerick, Waterford and big towns round about, the demand may well shock. Remember, nearly 9000 people turned up to see Morrissey for one night in the Point in December, with no more notice.

Anyway, to get back to geography class, in the past ten years, commercialisation has transformed the town into a modern busy market-place, but the past never dies! Many famous people have passed through and commented favourably over the centuries, including Alfred Lord Tennyson who wrote a poem about the misty magic of the place - search:

My mate queued for 4hrs for Salford, was about 10th inline and didn't get a ticket.
I notice ebay has 15pages of Morrissey tickets with prices reaching up to £400 - as much as I love Morrissey I refuse to pay that amount of money for 90mins.

  • I am so pissed off with ebay and ticketmaster and the whole ticket sale thing.

I have been a HUGE (Greek) Morrissey fan for ages, living in London for the last months. Last Friday morning I was tensely trying to buy tickets for one of the London venues but that wasn't possible and now I have to deal with the ebay sharks. And you know.. my only hope now is for Morrissey to keep his promise and do his second stop in Athens (http://true-to-you.net/morrissey_news_050824_01/ [true-to-you.net]) so that I can fly there for one night (if my job allows me to) or so for one of these small venues, where I would get to see him from so close.. ;)

  • A story to restore faith in our little community.

I posted on Friday about having been lucky enough to get tickets for Halifax but not the ones I was desperate for, The Lowry, any in Manchester, and Liverpool Philharmonic.

I got an e-mail a few hours later from a gentleman living in Cheshire who had a spare for Manchester Opera House and was quite willing to sell it for me at face value. After I'd gratefully accepted, a second e-mail arrived the following day saying how his wife no longer wanted to go to The Lowry gig so I could have her ticket too.

Everything is legit and I've spoken with him on the phone.

He could have flogged them on e-Bay but didn't seem interested in profit, only making someone's day.

I hope there are more examples of this - if so, I think people should post their good fortune here. It's hopefully refreshing in light of all the tout and e-bay discussions we've been having.

    Viva Morrissey fans.

  • With the best will in the world, I think Morrissey has saddled us with some dire supports over the years - Marion excepted, the majority have been there to make up the numbers; tolerable at best.
However, I think he has played a blinder here. I saw Sons and Daughters (www.sonsanddaughtersloveyou.com) with Arab Strap and the Delgados and they are a treat; Nick Cave, Chemikal Underground, all good, good stuff and mighty easy on the eye too. I reckon they will certainly set the right mood and good luck to 'em.

Sons & Daughters are one of the best new bands around.

Hearing that they will be supporting has really pleased me. Last summer I was somehow talking to the band a lot about Morrissey. It was obvious that they admired him so much. When I suggested that they should support Moz when he tours if they could. Scott said that he'd love to but life isn't ever as easy as that. I'm pleased for them.

The band are such nice people too!

Looking forward to them supporting Moz.
