quite useless article, but here it goes anyway.

Celebrity etiquette

The drugs don't work - but cheese, chips and being normal is true star quality

The Observer

excerpt:

"An unlikely addition to the lapsed celebrity crew is Morrissey, whose recent revival coincided with an outing for his previously hidden human side. He got cheerfully drunk during the last interview he gave, and he's been snapped lounging about in a football shirt. The gladioli, hearing aid and grumpiness a distant memory"

  • Gladioli ? Hearing aid ?

For f**ks sake that was twenty two years ago.

Further proof that journalists are the lowest form of life.

  • Which interview was he 'cheerfully drunk' in? Was it tv or something?

I would have loved to have seen it!

  • how rediculous to comment that drink revealed Morrisseys previously hidden human side! have these people never listened to his music?

  • He hasn't been subtle about his love for drinking.

    "Ahh the alcoholic afternoons..."

"Give us a drink, and make it quick..."

"Then I had one it became four, and when I fell on the floor I drank more."

Many such examples. The man loves his booze !

  • Nobody knows if the alcohol is a problem in Morrissey's life, so nobody have any reason to talk about it. In the case of that alcohol is just a joy for Him, He can came to México to a tequila trip... He would love it.

    ...maybe I'll even arrive?
  • Saw this yesterday too (good to see Morrissey fans are Observer readers!) What irked me slightly was the comment towards the end of the piece that said "Some on, celebrities, let the persona slip". If they knew anything about Morrissey at all, they would know he does not have/use a persona. As he once said, he gets no time off from being him, and as he said on the Jonathan Ross show, "only seals perform, Jonathan". Vinete x

  • Morrissey's favourite drinks are Guinness and red wine. And do you want to know what his favourite aftershave is? It's Comme De'Garcons (Hope I've spelt that right!)

    • Tut tut...guinness isn't vegetarian. They got the 'vegan raspberry award' recently-apparently they use a gelatine made from fish swim bladders to remove the yeast. ...Unless he's one of 'those' vegetarians that eat fish, in which case I shouldn't think it matters.

  • Despite any facile presuppositions when attention is drawn to the sociable qualities of Morrissey, as here, it contributes to a more real balance. Pieces by the Guardian and Observer about his shows belonging to the top-50 must-do’s of the year also have been appreciative of his accessibility. Timely too, with the imminent release of B-side cover “I’m a Human Being”.
