Stereogum, a terrific music blog I check daily, noted the tracklisting from Morrissey's forthcoming album today and commented, "Moz song titles are always amusing to peruse because they tend to be excessively lengthy and morbid." The post ended with a request for readers' "best fake Morrissey song titles". Some of their suggestions were pretty amusing with tongues tucked firmly in cheek and worth a look if you have five seconds to spare.

Have a laugh at some false ROTT song titles suggested by the U.S. Press:

The only thing more entertaining than the track list for Morrissey's next album is the 100+ fake Morrissey song titles submitted by Stereogum readers.

Among the real Moz titles: Life is a Pigsty, You Have Killed Me and I'll Never Be Anybody's Hero Now. Among the false ones: My Enemies Are All I Have Left and I Wear Slacks on the Outside Because Slacks Are How I Feel on the Inside. (I don't know what it means, either, but it made me laugh out loud. Slacks are always funny!)

"Dear God, please help me find my car keys"

"I'd have fallen for you (if you hadn't tripped me first)"

And I don't think it sounds Morrissey-like at all, but I love:
"Don't get in the way of the hurrying pikey".

  • I don't mind the piss being taken, but it has to be done well. I think that was done best when I went to see the excellent Half Man Half Biscuit two years back, when they (falsely) announced their next song

"This one's about a Smiths' obsessive
    It's called

  • I wrote far funnier ones for You and I Quarrel when it cam out. I'll repost them if I can find them. No doubt they weren't as funny as I remembered.
