This item says the album's release date in the U.S. is April 4. I wonder what the writer's source for this date is and how confident the source is of the date.

Ah, Don't say Preview when you mean review. Preview implies we get to hear a clip. At least in my mind.

this is all very promising BUT! just where are the tour dates that we were promised over Christmas? It has surely been two weeks now, has it not? All this waiting is no good for a gal!

The naysayers are already coming out and saying "but this is the type of hype that preceded You Are the Quarry." No, it's different.

Quarry was a tall glass of water after 7 years in the desert of no recordings. Now that our thirst has been quenched and we're thinking clearly, we're ready for that real drink at the bar, and it's a double.

We won't have to wait until April to hear many of the new songs. For the album versions we may have to wait, but once he plays a show or two, we'll all have access to decent live performances of his new songs. Unless he just plays all Smiths songs this time around. Who knows ?

Many of us had most of the Quarry in varying live versions months before it came out. I also had the full high-quality Quarry album about 2 months before it came out through mp3 downloads. One of my best music hunting days was finding that so soon. As I downloaded each song my jaw was just hanging as I previewed each track and found it to be Genuine. After 8 years... Wow. New Morrissey.

Hopefully the same mistake is made this time around. One of these "listening party" people have to burn a copy and release it on Limewire or better download sites that I won't mention.... (they may get some attention and be shut down...)

Morrissey has been able to create a new sound, a new way of singing like Frank Sinatra did after his voice started to change. Glad this comparrison has been made

This song certainly seems like one of the album's main highlights. Morrissey has cited it as Alain's best work ever, and it sure seems like it may live up to the expectations.

Is it a good thing or bad thing that it is like Radiohead's "Paranoid Android"?

just frantic to know what the cover art will be? I'm dearly hoping it will feature Rome. And even better would be to see Rome captured in a style--as others have mentioned--somewhat akin to the old Smiths album art. Perhaps Moz doesn't want to be seen as trying to recapture that period with too Smithy of a cover, but after all, they were his concepts, not those of the band as a whole. I for one wouldn't hold it against him.

Listen clones, i'm not ready to jump on the "It's Gonna Be His Best Album Yet" bandwagon. Not to naysay or down Moz, I hope it is his best. I hope Moz will give us some fresh stuff. I hope this album rocks. But we are almost 3 months away from this album's release.

I've been saying this, and i'll say it again: Don't hold your breath too long because you may be out of air by April and won't enjoy anything no matter how good it is! I'm as anxious as everyone else here. I'm not saying it's going to suck. I'm not even saying that it's not going to be good. Sanctuary is getting what they want as far as VERY positive reviews 3 months ahead of a release date. We all know how careful Moz is about who he keeps as company. What's to say this isn't more of the same? And no, i'm not alleging that Sanctuary is paying anyone off or anything like that. Give the right people a listen and you may get the "right" response.

Another thing: I wouldn't judge this album by it's first single either. I made the mistake of assuming that Quarry was going to be like that first batch of b-sides on IBEH. Granted, Quarry is no Kill Uncle - the ultimate of acquired tastes, it was a strong effort yet didn't live up to the expectations - from early critics and the IBEH single.

True, we are getting mad amounts of buzz on this one and more so than for other recent releases, but all the reason more to be cautious about your expectations.

Such a fabulous day to release what seems to be getting some of the most ravishing reviews of your career thus far. Thank you and we all CANNOT wait!!

How come YATQ is getting slagged by everyone all of a sudden? I love that album just as much as all of Moz's other solo stuff.

I reckon the new album is going to be ace just like pretty much everything else he's ever released has been. Even Kill Uncle and Southpaw Grammar are ace.

And I don't care how much the album is hyped for the next three months. If it disappoints I'll eat my own hair.

Come on April 4!
