Just stumbled upon this in the NME.com news section, it's just been put up today:
"MORRISSEY TO START WORK ON NEW RECORD"

What's it all about, Alfie? Perhaps they know something we don't, or they're going on what Red Lightning's management are saying.
Either way, exciting stuff. We'd better start saving our pennies & preening our detachable quiffs for (hopefully) another album & tour.

Excerpt:

MORRISSEY has announced that he will start work on his new album in September.

The Mozfather will record the follow-up to 2004’s ‘You Are The Quarry’ in Rome.

No further details are as of yet available, but keep checking NME.COM for the latest news on the LP.

Morrissey's friends with Nancy, his daughter, so therefore he inadvertently has connections with the Mafia, & that is funny, considering he appears to be like the boy least likely to (hoho) ever act in the manner stereotypically accustomed to the Mafia.

I'm also sure that the victims of the Kray twins wouldn't call them, or the way they behaved, bimboesque, if you really want to get in to it. You can't trivialise one act of violence simply by comparing it to another.

I was only joking anyway, no need to take offence, so don't go preparing to pop a cap in my ass.

  • www.music-news.com says this today, Aug. 21st:

"Morrissey has announced that he will start work on his new album in September.

The Mozfather will record the follow-up to 2004’s ‘You Are The Quarry’ in Rome.

‘You Are The Quarry’ marked the singer’s first album since 1997’s ‘Maladjusted’ and received a rapturous worldwide reception. The LP produced the singles ‘Irish Blood, English Heart’, ‘First Of The Gang To Die’ and ‘I Have Forgiven Jesus’"

Did we miss a press release or is everyone doing a collage of scraps that have escaped willy-nilly over the last while, regardless of any direct information from Morrissey? Still, signs are hunky dorey!

But seriously, don't rags usually mentioned who made an announcement when they print one (eg. "according to Sanctuary's press release", or "as stated by so-and-so".

When it's a slow news day at NME, they seem to fish for storie at other sites, including here. They do have the September detail, though, which wasn't mentioned anywhere else...?
