We all remember Harry Hill, the comedian who murdered 'This Charming Man' on Stars in Your Eyes and the performance that Jonathan Ross played to Morrissey. Well I was at a Harry Hill comedy show at the Kings theatre Glasgow on Sunday night and to my utter surprise, two songs from the start of the show, 'First of the Gang to Die' came hammering out the speakers nearly deafening everyone. Most look bemused but for me it was a real moment.

Add to this once everyone was departing the venue, the leaving song was 'I Don't Mind if you Forget Me', which was obviously used to be ironic but still, it made my night.

Oh back to something interesting ...

  • I don't know but there is something quite sweet about the guy. Have to say that when he did "Carming Man" in Star in their Arse it was truly embarassing viewing!!
But then, if you are a Morrissey fan, which I believe he is, you can't really help it, can You?

  • Perhaps we're all on the bandwagon then? After all we do profess to like Morrissey and that seems to be a crime on this site.

  • He doesnt need to be on anyones bandwagon.
He is a well respected and recognised comedian in our country.
I think you are confusing him with a two bit actress who sucks things for a living.

That is jumping on the bandwagon.

Harry doesnt have to believe me.

He is a genius and a qualified doctor of medicine to boot.

You thick yankee shit who eats too many moonpies

  • Very quick witted, very obscure.
Certainly not right in the head.
But this is why we like him.

You must be a total yankee moron if you think for one minute he is the type of guy to jump on anyones bandwagon.

Go eat some french fries and popcorn or whatever and keep note of the baseball scores to post on the board for the next sixth months, wont ya

  • I have seen Harry Hill perform 3 times and on each occasion there has been something Morrissey related dropped into his act/show.

The first time I saw him perform a musical tribute act with his backing band 'the Caterers' he actually donned a Moz wig and sang 'Dagenham Dave' fully backed by four-piece guitar, bass, organ, drum ensemble. he also pergromed the Benny Hill 'Ernie' song in the style of Moz.

The other coupokle of times I've seen him he's respctively used 'Heaven Knows' and 'first of the Gang' as his intro music.

Would you like to note my inside-leg?
  • Harry hill is somebody who is out of the ordinary. He could, like everybody else, mimic or play the music of the acceptable and 99% of the time boring and predictable 'artists' and I use that term loosely. However, he very genuinely wants to put Moz on a pedestal as everybody who understands him seems to want to do. I am sure most people on here like a lot of other bands, but how many times do you find yourself selling Morrissey to people instead of another band that you listen to?

I think it is great that Morrissey continues to infiltrate the mainstream and, as the life-time achievement award for Bob Geldolf at this years Brit awards proves, it is having a big effect on the people no one cares about who try to control the charts and media. I think there are many within the music media and British television that always hope that Morrissey will just go away, but year by year the legend strengthens and it is now at a point where I think it really will last forever and there is only a handful of other artists that I could predict that about.

So Harry murdered 'This charming man' but it was still atriumph for Morrissey and evrybody who follows him.

Lets get 'There is a light' to number one this time.

  • Isn't anybody famous allowed to be a Moz fan without earning the ire of (some of) his fans?
