  • I have always thought "Maladjusted" a magnificent album.
Many of the things Morrissey said last year about "YATQ" are similar to what he said about "Maladjusted" at the time of it's release.

  • Three cheers for Maladjusted...
It is completely underratted. Go back and have another listen, you'll fall in love again, just like you've always wanted. Boy, Boy George; does he make good company or bad...I really can't decide....oh well, I never do.

  • I don't think they should be calling him a "Game Old Bird". It just doesn't sound very nice.

Maybe they should call him a "stoic pelican" instead.

  • Maladjusted is a Brilliant album and very underated indeed. Boy George has praised Morrissey in various articles and is clearly a fan. Just finished reading BoyGeorge's latest "autobiography" (called Straight) and it's a load of self-centered and egomaniac ramblings about....nothing. Morrissey once described George as "overbearing" and he hit the nail in the head: Boy George is a talented song writer but these days has no direction in his career, he just simply jumps from one bandwagon to another - whatever is "in" at the moment.

  • Maladjusted deserves a fresh appraisal. It's a very good album. So good, as Jonathon Ross, said about YATQ, 'that I nearly cried'! Did Morrissey know that it would be 7 years before the next album when he wrote: 'I know what's expected of me now, veering cliff- (or quarry!-ward)?' Boy George has a discerning ear.

  • I never understood the silent trashing of Maladjusted. I thought it was fantastic. So many treasures: Maladjusted, Ammunition, Satan Rejected my Soul, Trouble loves me, Roy's Keen. Just a great album...

  • I didn't like Maladjusted when it first came out, I think I played it once and only liked the title track.

But listen to it now and it sounds really good. So everyone tommorrow pop down to the record shop and buy a copy. If you can get it.

  • There's some great songs on Maladjusted, it's that the production's weak. It's sounds mushy, and compressed, there's no life to it, blame Steve Lillywhite

  • What the hell is happening here? Some old drag queen sais he likes Maladjusted and suddenly the album "deserves a fresh appraisal"?

Let's face it: Maladjusted is NOT a good album. Songs like Satan Rejected My Soul, Roy's Keen and Papa Jack are really, really horrible.

No, maladjusted isn't good at all. I wouldn't even call it mediocre.

    To me, my board!
  • Papa Jack... (Score:2, Interesting)

Why do people hate this track so much? It's definitely nowhere near Morrissey's best, but it has its charms. I remember the press release for this album saying Papa Jack's guitars recalled The Who live at Leeds. I like the vocal/guitar wall of sound at the end, and the sentiment of the song is nicely in line with the rest of the album. I don't mind the vocal melody, either.

People on here are usually able to articulate why the love a song, but not able to articulate why they hate one. How about a more detailed critique of why you think this song (and others on Maladjusted) is/are "bad" or "crap" etc.

  • Queer enough as it is, I find myself returning to this album when I really need a cd to lose myself into. No doubt Moz was depressed when he wrote it and frankly I like Papa Jack better that way, musically-

Nothing on Quarry comes close to Alma or Wide, and he has never written a better b side than Lost, it could even be his best Solo song in fact of his whole catalog.

  • There's quite a few Moz references in the new Boy G book itself. I haven't had a chance to read it though, chaps, just flicked through the index in WH Smiths on my way to doing something else...

  • It comes as no surprise that 'Maladjusted' should now be recognised for the treasure it truly is. I have Respect for you now, Boy George.
It seems a little strange that Boy george likes Morrissey- oh no, wait... it doesn't. At all.

boy george has been quite loud in the press recently, at least he was nice to poor old moz.

  • Understandably, people have been concentrating on the Moz aspect of O'Dowd's remarks. However, his choice of 'The Beautiful Ones' deserves comment too, because it displays exceptionally good taste. In my humble thingy, this is Prince's finest moment - monstrously overblown, but not in that annoying Queen sort of way. Far more glorious. If you don't know it, then - in the words of another George - 'listen without prejudice'. It's on the Purple Rain album.

Have listened to Maladjusted more in the months since YATQ came out than in the years of hiatus. It is now (gasp) one of my favourites...
